is the starfish tralawney good in jamaica, seen good reviews, whats the meals like,is it central, plenty to do in jamaica.there or kenya.also whats falmouths resort like.
also were going in AUGUST/SEPTEMBER what will the weather be like?
Still Jamaica?
It was a fantastic holiday and there was so much to do, rock climing, traspeze, crazy golf, table tennis and more plus all the usual pool games. All the watersports were great, though the sea was often too rough to go out. I mainly lay around the lovely pools or the fabulous beach. There is a lot for teenagers to do(though mine seemed to spend a lot of time watching TV!!!!!)
The staff at the hotel were lovely, the spa was great, food excellant, we didn't go to the al a carte, just ate at the buffet because it was easier for veggie daughter, there was always something for everyone.
The rooms were fairly basic but clean and had optics with spirts included in price.
I would definetely go back to this resort again, especially if you can get a bargin.
Can anyone tell me if the ice-skating rink is still available? and would you think it's safe for teenage girls to go out alone on the complex in the evening?
Thanks
I thought the complex was very safe for teenagers, to be honest it's not huge and they can't get lost. My 15yr old had a great time though most of it was spent watching tv!! The circus crew were great teaching the trapeze and rock climbing and she enjoyed playing board games with them?? (never does this at home)
She wanted us to return here for half term but it was expensive so we are of to Dominican Republic instead.
I'm sure you will all have a great time.
Our party will have 2 girls 13 & 14 and 2 16yr old lads (who we know will be ok left to their own devices!)
It's good to know that the girls will be able to have a little independence in a safe environment.
Do they still do the Toga and Beach parties?
Have just booked Starfish Trelawny for next July and would welcome feedback from anyone who has been.
Merged with existing topic which may have some information.
We went to the Starfish in August and had a fantastic time, the staff were great nothing was too much trouble for them especially Yvonne at the starfish pool bar.We loved all the day time activities that were available although the evening entertainment was not to our taste mainly solo reggae singers. We went on a couple of trips and would recommend the Irie adventure and the Luminous Lagoon, also visit the Bamboo Village to buy souvenirs (remember to barter but be fair with the price you are prepared to pay).If there is anything in particular you want to know feel free to PM me.
Thanks for merging my request didn't know these comments were there. Sounds great.
Please don't think I'm suggesting that the girls can't be trusted but these guys are extremely charming and with the romantic surroundings they might just be persuaded.
I've travelled the Caribbean many times and have witnessed girls as young as 13 (admittedly she looked older) being approached by these guys with only one thing on their minds. This 13 year old was convinced she was madly in love with him and confided in me that she had already indulged in some sexual activity. I subtlety tried to tell her parents but got told by the father that he was quite capable of looking after his own children, he refused to believe his daughter would do anything like that.
I realise that this post might not make me very popular but as much as I love the Caribbean I feel its important to be truthful to enable our children to be protected.
Would have to say we didnot witness any of this type of activity from the entertainment team, but then again we have two boys so maybe it just did not come to our attention.Obviously you should always be truthful to your children in any circumstance and make them aware of any potential dangers in any country but this hotel is very family orientated and no one we spoke to when we were there expressed any concerns of this kind.
We are daytime people and tend to go to bed when the kids activities stop.
Does the starfish have a pool towel facility? Do you have to pay for the mini-bar?
In answer to Silverpixie - unfortunately we had an 'incident' with our 13yr old being approached by a very handsome young man from the watersports desk - luckily, she told us about this immediately and, with a quiet, but firm word in his ear, he was most apologetic and remained polite and friendly to the whole family for the rest of our time there.
To Joyceb, yes there is a pool and beach towel facility. With regards to the minibar, this is fully stocked with beers and soft drinks and you do not have to pay for this service. There are also optics in the room which are also part of the all inclusive package.
I'm sure you'll have a great time, I would go back tomorrow
Also the mini bar is only stocked on arrival,if you want if refilled there is a charge. The same applies for the optics these are full bottles of various alcoholic drinks which are included in the all inclusive but if you finish a certain bottle and want another bottle there is a charge.
There are loads of daytime activities and our boys especially loved the fact that any equipment you may need ie tennis racquets, golf clubs etc are left just next to that activity and you just pick them up play and then put them back when you are finished,no need to book any activities.A few activities such as the trapeze, rock climbing are only available at certain times of the day when the circus crew are there to supervise and give instruction. You can pick up a daily activity sheet each day from the lobby giving the times these activities are available. We always found these activities took place at the stated time.
Thanks for the replies. Am really looking forward to this one. Going to the Holiday village in Turkey with the alleged salmonella in October so may just have recovered in time for this holiday!!
Ive read loads of info on the resort and spoken to quite a few people who have been there and they love the place. I cant wait - just hope the weather behaves!!
