We have just got back from the Summerville and we loved it! The staff cant be more helpful - Alex (Bar manager) and Richard (his helper). There were people complaining whilst we were there but about the most ridiculous things - such as not having ten pillows - seriously! And one woman complained that the bathroom lock didnt work. It is in the quieter part of candolim near the Kingfisher Villa. When you arrive ask Reception for a second floor room - the only reservation we had about the hotel was that the ground floor rooms were by the walkway to the pool so people walked by the terrace.

i think its always a good idea to take all reviews with a pinch of salt so to say, people always have different levels of expectation and ive found that a lot of people who go to goa are used to paying £200 for a holiday somewhere like tenerife & because theyve spent £500 to get to goa they expect a 5 star palace when they arrive forgetting that the flight to goa is a whole lot further than their usual holiday places and £500 is is actually still very cheap for a 10hr return flight + accomodation for a couple of weeks.
saying that though i have seen some nasty rooms at hotels in goa in hotels that actually were fine,( osborne for example!!) if you dont like what you see when you arrive ask to be shown another room, good idea to check your room before all your gear is hauled over there.

We have stayed at the Summerville twice. Its ok but could do with a bit of a proper clean and a lick of paint to be honest. I tend not to look below the sheets as long as they are clean and I have never had dirty ones at the Summerville. The toilet in the bar is dirty, I dont think toilets are important to some Goans so they dont really clean them properly, well most of them anyway. If your not happy mention it to Frankie the bar manager he will get things done for you.

But remember there is a lot of good things and they far outweigh the not so good things. I love the little village lane were the Summerville is situated, when we go back in November we may stay there again. I know many people who stay there year after year and love it.

Dont listen to too much critisism about the hotel as it wont suit everyone but if you dont expect to much you may be pleasantly suprised. what is missing in decor is certainly made up with other qualities, the staff the food and the setting. I am sure you will love it so dont worry.
