You could also look in the airport duty free if you want a brand name. I got a pair of Oakleys a few years ago, they give excellent protection, are still like new and I consider them to have been good value. Brand names sometimes have good guarantees too for things like replacement lenses.
I've also got a couple of pairs of cheap trendy sunglasses.
Whatever you decide just make sure they have adequate protection form the suns rays
(oops sorry, I'm sounding like my mother!! )
Do you have a TJ Hughes near you? My partner and I got some from there at the weekend and they were very reasonable.
Mine were "Fabris Lane" (an italian designer) which were supposed to retail at £40 and my partners were M:UK which were supposed to be £30, they had them for sale at £5 per pair or 2 pairs for £8!!!
I thought that was too much of a bargain so I checked the Fabris Lane website and mine were infact £40!!
They had lots of different makes and designs with such low prices!
I was going to get a pink dior pair from ebay... £20 (I doubt they're genuine) but when we went to matalan, I saw a pair identical, but with straight diamantes on the sides instead of the D's... £6! They also have high UV Protection. I have to wear prescription tints for driving in sunny and dark conditions because my eyes don't react to light quick enough, but the sunglasses feel (and look) better!
Just be careful to ensure they are not scratched as people tend to try them on and not put them back properly so they end up on the floor..TK Maxx can be a bot of a rugby scrum but worth it when you got a holiday bargain.
Just to fill you all in on uv protection, being an optician its my area. As long as the sunglasses are marked with ce they will conform to all the uv requirements. All sunglasses in this country should leagally have a ce mark weather they are 99p or £90. Some of the expensive designer brands will offer a better level of glare protection than others, but how much glare protection needed is more of a personal preferance and will probably depend on your eye colour, lighter iris's will tend to be more photphobic, (light sensitive). Rayban lenses are fantastic, but be careful as most are glass lenses and will shatter if dropped on something hard or if you have an accident in the car. I tend to use a polorised lens as this is one of the best glare protection lenses for driving, it cuts down reflections on water ect, so brill for looking in the sea at fishes ect.
So dont feel you are putting your eyes at risk for buying cheaper styles just check for the ce mark, and make sure you look cool of course!!!
