There is a medium sized supermarket (Ali Super) near the roundabout on the edge of Alvor but what hours it keeps on a Sunday I am afraid I know not. From what I have seen of the place, Alvor is not particularly well off for shops.
According to various websites the Pestana Alvor Park hotel is about 1km from the centre of Alvor, so the walking distance to the shop will be less.

The Ali Super is definatley the one for you ,not too far to carry shopping I know it is open on a Sunday but cannot remember what time it closes.During your stay do go to the Municipal Market (only open in a morning) lovely for fresh fruit and salad ,also fresh fish if you feel like cooking!
Many thanks for the info,as this is our first visit to the Algarve I am sure I will have more questions to ask before we go in October... Al.
Forgot to say on my last posting we have not stayed at the Alvor park but have friends who have and they liked it so much they have booked again for next year.
Also the bus stop is not far from the supermarket and that will take you into Lagos and Portimao also there is a bus which calls in Praia do Vau which is where we stay if you get off there if the tide is out you can walk on the beach all the way to Portimao Marina .
