Hi,
Would appreciate it if someone could help me on this please. We are flying to Turkey with Thomas Cook in a couple of weeks. We paid extra for 20kg hold baggage, and I know we have 5kg hand luggage as well. My question is this: is it 5kg OR the size quoted? As on Thomas Cooks website, the size quoted is very small, 43 x 28 x23cm, compared to East Midlands airport website, which quotes 56 x 45 x 25cm. So would we be okay if our bag was bigger than what TC quote, as long as it doesn't weigh over 5kg?
Hope I've explained that so that it makes sense
Many thanx
I'd use the Thomas Cook numbers being that they're operating the flight. We're off to Bodrum on the 14th, maybe I'll see you out there!
With regard to dimensions and weight, unfortunately it is not just a case of complying with either/or. You would have to comply with both the maximum dimensions and the maximum weight allowed by your airline and airport.
In situations where airports and airlines both impose different limitations on dimensions, you should ensure that your bag falls within the lower of the two limits.
For more on Thomas Cook Airlines, East Midlands Airport, and about current hand luggage restrictions, please check out our Airlines & Airports forum.

Thanx for replies - looks like we'll be taking a bit less hand luggage than planned then. I wonder why Thomas Cook specifies such a small size.
