Just IMHO, I feel as you have been messed about in this way and moved to a different hotel that is AI, it would be reasonable to ask to be upgraded from HB to AI, after all you aren't getting what you booked and in effect your room has been downgraded from a suite to a normal double. Don't know what other people think on this one.
looks to me like its only sold as A/I anyway and presumably is only set up to operate in that way . If that is the case I think you will find you will be A/I when you get there or have thomas cook made it clear you will only get Half board .
Have spoke to Thomas cook today, we have been upgraded to a superior room as I wasnt happy about only being in a double when we paid for a junior suete, especially as I didnt want my children (10yr boy and 7yr girl) to have to share a bed. They wont upgrade us to AI they have said if we want to we would have to pay for it. . We have some friends who should of been with us for a week at the Grand Resort,they still havent been informed so they are trying to sort it now as obviously they want to be with us, its their first time to egypt and have booked because of us raving about egypt
Some good news re the suite then familygen . I would see what you get when you get there to be honest. Have you found it sold on a H/B basis anywhere . I couldnt when I looked earlier and if the hotel only operates A/I I cant see you would get any different on arrival. Hopefully they will say nothing and slap the bands on your wrist .

We had a beach front suite booked at the Calimera Habiba with TC and they switched us to a standard room at the Brayka Bay, I tried to get other hotels but they wanted more money, I complained about the standard room but they said they could not upgrade us. I kept on at them, calmly stating at every opertunity how dissapointed we were at booking a suite 10 months in advance yet ending up with a standard room at a different hotel.
I had almost given up but on the last call before we accepted the change of hotel but then we were offered our room upgrade costs back, £308! Have not checked my invoice yet but I'm sure I got a discount on the upgrade but we have been given full cost back(I don't even feel guilty )
The key to our negotiations was to request someone else to speak to, the girl dealing with our problem at first could not answer any question without speaking to someone else so I quietly ask to speak to that person. Nicola was put onto my case and she was very helpfull and eventually offered the refund and has given some advice on a letter of complaint.
Don't worry about upsetting anyone by asking to speak to someone higher up the chain, keep at them until you are a bit happier and no matter how hard it is, keep calm and play the sympathy/dissapontment card.
