Hi
Thanks for the info, I have cancelled the ELS as I am worried enough about flying let alone being asked to move if they think that its not safe for me to sit there!

I got my belt extender from ebay, it fits most planes and was £10.00.

I have booked reserved seating now so just need to work out the best seats, any ideas?

thanks again x

rosettemaker,

Seating is personal preference. All seats offer the same room and facilities, excluding extra legroom seating, so its really just whatever you prefer, eg isle, window, front, middle, rear. All I would say is you may want to avoid rows near to toilets as passengers will often queue around those rows and can be distracting.

we are flying on an airbus A321-200 from Manchester to Gran Canaria on the 23rd August with Thomson

How safe is the airbus A321-200 compared to the boeing, I am a really nervous flyer and so is my daughter .

I have been reading various things on the internet, stupidly and now i am worried sick as i have never flown on one. :thanks

Airbus aircraft have an excellent safety record just as Boeing do so there is no need to worry. You have to remember when reading things on the internet that many problems occur in countries which dont have strict safety rules as the EU and USA do, Thomson aircraft have to be safety checked daily.

Sit back and enjoy the flight and your holiday. :sun2

personal opinion.. rather be on an Airbus than a Boeing any day, all models have an excellent air safety record [thats not to say the yanks haven't] but i prefer the feel comfort and comparative quietness in the cabin.

And remember that according to the probability statistics, you'll be more at risk in your car or taxi on the way to the airport than you will be in the air! 2,946 people died in road accidents in 2007 (the most recent year for which I can find the stats in a quick search on the Office of National Statistics website). At an average capacity of 200 passengers per Airbus, that's the equivalent of 14/15 airbuses falling out of the sky in the space of 12months. That's never happened and it's unlikely that it ever will because every single Airbus in use would have been grounded long before that sort of total was racked up. So rest easy and enjoy your holiday :)

The press did what they always do though and make it out a standard procedure to be a big disaster, the A321 can safely fly and land with one engine.

ok then remember the Hudson river emergency a year or two back, after a bird strike the captain made a text book on water landing in an airbus with very little damage under the same circumstances i wonder if [and doubt] that a Boeing would have survived

snowdrop1962,

IFE for September won't be releaesd until the end of this month. The current listing (July / August) is linked from our What Aircraft? guide (link below). I'll update it once the Sept / Oct list is posted.

NUNNS,

Please quote flight numbers when requesting aircraft information as there are often several flights. I take it by CAN you mean Cancun (CUN)? You'll find a seating plan on our What Aircraft? guide (link below) so you can view where your seats are. TOM092/3 are operated by a former First Choice Boeing 767-300/ER (winglets), normally the V2 configuration.

:D I've always said that I don't care what I'm flying on, as long as it gets me from A to B :), and I use normally the "low cost" carriers. But I'm now getting excited as I am flying on Thurs from Lanzarote to Exeter on TOM6401, so a holiday charter flight!!! Will I get IFE?? Will I get fed?? If not, is there an opportunity to buy food, or should I take food with me? Will they have already allocated me a seat?

madsue,

EXT-ACE-EXT (6400/1) are operated by an Airbus A320-200. IFE is provided, meals are only provided if they are pre-booked and paid for. Snacks are available for purchase onboard. Seating is allocated 24 hours before the flight departs, but you can pay to pre-book seating together or choose your seat if you wish at extra cost. Details are on Thomsons website.

My wife and I are flying Gatwick to Goa on TOM 052 on 19/02/11 and returning on TOM 053 on 06/03/11. We have booked Premium seats.

Can anyone please advise on the best seats, given that I am 6' 3" tall?
