Flight Only / Airline and Airports

Discussions relating to flight only, airlines and airports.
Dazbo et al-As a matter of interest, how long does it "normally" take an airline like Thomsonfly to catch back up after such a massive delay?

I fly out from East Midlands to Goa 9th March on TOM307, can anyone tell me the type of aircraft and facilities please.
Reply
billy b,

TOM307 should be operated by an ex-FCA aircraft meaning a 2-3-2 seating configuration. You can find out lots about the aircraft by searching this thread, including IFE listings provided by BY-TOM-AMM-FCA

EDIT: IFE listings are here

brewerdave,

It depends what caused the problem in the first place (ie is the aircraft with the technical problem back in the sky), how much room for menouver there is in the schedule, and whether they can jugggle things around. You'll looking at the best part of week for a 24 hour delay to settle down. I have a vested interest in this as I'm flying out to Kenya on sunday and will be effected by the knock-on effects of this latest delay.

billy b,

Refer to my post to jabron56 above, same applies for your flights.

Hi guys,

Just wondering, does anybody know what is happening with the flights to Colombo from Gatwick? ie. Are they stopping them or not. If they are keeping them then, in addition, does anyone know when they are being operated?

Many thanks,
Alasdair

Thanks darren - shame you cant send the seating plan I thought previously that you had said that there were 5 rows in the premium cabin but it now seems that there are 9 rows?....Did you say that i would be on a thompson plane or a first choice plane......when will the films be confirmed for the May flights ( Bham - Cancun TOM 662 / TOM 663 )
Reply
britabroad,

Your flights should be operated by an ex-FCA aircraft rather than an ex-Thomsonfly from May. These are 2-3-2 throughout (reference your post on the What Aircraft thread). The ex-FCA aircraft have 9 rows of premium seating (63 seats), the ex-TOM 5 rows (31 seats). The ex-TOM aircraft in long haul configuration will only be based at Manchester and Gatwick from May (one each). BY-TOM-AMM-FCA will kindly post the IFE list for May when it becomes available, at the end of April or beginning of May.

Hi there Darren

Flying from Birmingham to Punta Cana on the 30th May, Flight No.TOM642 Return TOM643
And just wondering if you know if its Thomson Airways of ex-FCA
As we have booked premium seat but all so want to book select a seat. But looking on this forum there seems different seating arraignment between Thomson Airways and ex-FCA in premium.
If you have any seating maps would help out a lot. ;)

Welcome onboard :tup
Your flights are operated by a Thomson Airways (ex-FCA) Boeing 767-300/ER. Select a seat isn't currently available. It is hoped this will be introduced across all flights when Thomson Airways begins in May. The reason it was withdrawn is because of the different seating configurations between the aircraft from the two fleets. I can't post a seating plan for copyright reasons.

Ok, thanks Darren. I had heard it had been droped but wanted to check because a friend of mine has the FCA brochure and reckoned it was still operating all this year.

I don't suppose anyone knows of any cheap flights over to Sri Lanka? £2500 with Emirates seems a bit pricy for 2 peopl...

Alasdair

EDIT: Again thanks Darren for the info below :tup

roboa,

It's only the summer season that has been dropped. If you want to go in the winter season (November onwards), Thomson Airways are running flights up to press. You've got two main options other than TOM; Sri Lankan and Emirates.

You might want to have a quick look through our new What Aircraft? thread for aircraft information. More specifically, your flights (TOM4173/4) are operated by a Boeing 757-200. They're a pretty friendly bunch and will look after you and the little one. You might fine some useful hints and tips over on the 'is it easy to go abroad with a baby?' thread on the General Questions forum.

Hi there we are off to Orlando on Saturday, from Gatwick, would be nice to know if this is an ex thompson or ex FCA 767?

Also can you confirm that the seat assignemnts are done before check-in ie there is no point rushing to be first in the line at check in....

Thanks for any help

davidjpowell,

Please supply flight numbers when possible as there are multiple flights. LGW-SFB-LGW (TOM059/60) are currently operated by an ex-FCA aircraft. Seating is pre-allocated 24 hours prior to the flight departing. Please refer to the What aircraft thread for aircraft details.
