Hi again

i posted the other day asking about flights MAN-CFU. Understand that im off out to corfu on a 738, but I have established that im actually on a different flight back, TOM 2565 rather than 2519. Is this a 738 aswell?
Very confusing as one flight leaves 5 minutes before the other both outbound and return so want to make sure I'm looking at the right ones!!

Thanks again

Hey Clarewalkers,
TOM 2526 is showing as being operated on a Boeing 767-300 which will be on one of the ex Thomsonfly aircraft.
But there is two flights with the same flight code on the information I have one is departing at 09:55PM but the other departs at 10:05PM which has the same flight code but is operated on Airbus A320 but the A320 flight only operates on certain dates in October.
What date do you fly back home on?

This can happen where there is 2 flights to same destination within close time.
When I flew to Larnaca last year half the group of us were on one flight departing at 07:15 the rest were on a flight departing at 07:30 I think they put on the extra flights when there is more passengers than expected.

clarewalkers,

MAN-CFU (TOM2518) is a Boeing 737-800 (winglets)
CFU-MAN (TOM2565) is a Boeing 767-304/ER (328Y / short haul)

More aircraft details are available on our What Aircraft? guide linked above.

EDIT: We posted at the same time z.j.c!

Thanks guys - my outbound flight is 0635, inbound departs at 2200 (there is another TOM flight at 2155 too...).
Im only concerned because I'm actually frightened of flying and want to preselect my seats so I know they're booked and I can sit on the front row (so i feel that I can get out if needs be...). My other half, though, is only interested to make sure that a) it has engines, and b) he can see the TV screens so he watch a film and pretend he doesnt know me when I'm fretting because "i can smell fuel"
Darren... I know from your trip reports that you've been on a 738: Im thinking of pre-selecting seats 1e and 1f do you happen to know if the screen on the wall at the front is ok, or will it be one of those fold-out of the armrest numbers?

Thanks for all your help - knowledge is power when it comes to flying for me so I feel more relaxed when it comes to getting on the plane!

Clare,
I think you will have to pay a higher fee for the front seats with them being the extra legroom seats. If you did purchase these your other half would have a great view of the TV's as you have TV's in front of you.

As with your return depending on the aircraft depends on what tv facilities you have. You may be lucky enough to get a Ex Thomsonfly which is still in the Long Haul config which has its TV's in the seats and extra leg room. If however its been reverted or is a short haul config then im not sure where the TV's would be I have never flown on one before.

Im sure Darren will be able to give more advice on the 738 as I have never flown on one I am just using general information I know.

clarewalkers,

The front seats onthe 738 are bulkhead ones and are medical (special needs) seats so you won't be able to book them unless you qualify to sit there, eg have a known medical need. The exception is if no one requires them and they become available on the day. We have a [url=http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=5890&start=280]Fear of Flying[/url thread that may help and calm some of your fears. You can pre-select most other seats though. They are all standard so it's personal preference really. There aren't any screens on the front bulkhead of the 738, IFE is via dropdown overhead screens above the seats. This makes it a little awkward to see the screen on the front row as it's in the panel above you and gives you kneck ache after a couple of hours! It's different on the 767's as there's a screen on the bulkhead wall or if you are lucky enough to be assigned one of the former long haul aircraft with seat back screens (4 out of 6 aircraft have them), it'll be of the fold out arm rest variety on the front row / bulkhead seats.

The former long haul aircraft have been converted to short haul. They have the same seats / IFE system but have short haul seat pitch, ie they've put the seats back in that they took out so it's back to 29-30" rather than 33", and no premium cabin. There are 2x aircraft with seat back IFE and cloth seats, and 4 with seat back screens and leather seats.

Dazbo,
Thanks for updating me with the information I knew one plane I had been on had TV Screens on the front seats it could have been Thomas Cook A320 come to think of it.

As for the 767 I thought they may have took out the Seatback screens seems Thomson were feeling generous!

thanks so much for your help - i'll have a read through that thread and look to book row 3 on the right hand side so screen viewing is easier - at least it's only a short flight!

Thanks

We flew out to Larnaca on a Thomson plane which was a nice modern one, drop down screens, on the way back an old First Choice one,tv monitors in the middle and it made such a noise all through the flight.

keels71,

The "nice modern one" Would Have Been A Boeing 737-800, And Inbound On A First Choice Boeing 757-200

update on my prevous thread re selecting our seats for our son who is paralised. Thomson have just said (TA asked for a supervisor) that the do not do medical seats and definately dont do them in Premium

can't believe after all these phone calls they wait 6 days before we fly to tell us this. they asked for doctors letter and sons moblity blue badge way back and yet they now are saying they don't do medical seats.

we booked back in April 2008 and TA has been trying to get all this sorted since then. only flown MYT and TC who didnt even ask for doctors letter of Blue Badge and they did do the medical seats.

we wanted to pay to we didn't want them for nothing or want any preferential treatment.

MAN-PMI-MAN (TOM2778/9) is indeed operated by a Boeing 767-304/ER (328Y / short haul). Refer to our What Aircraft? guide for more details.
