CalamityJane,
Welcome
Your Flight Will Be Operated By A Boeing 767-300 (In ex First Choice Configuration(2-3-2), the ex Thomsonfly Planes Were 2-4-2)
More Information Can Be Found On Our What Aircraft? Thread, Linked In My Signature.
Seating Is A Personal Preference, However 22AB Will Be Just Looking Over The Rear Of The Wing, In You Wanted To Be Behind The Wing You Are Better Off Going Anywhere From Row 26. All These Have Windows, There Are Only Some At The Exits That Dont. A Seating Plan Of Your Aircraft Type Can Be Seen Here
If There Is Anything Else Then Just Ask
Gower
It Is Too Early To Know For Sure What Aircraft Will Be Operating Flights Next May (we wont know until the start of may), However I Would Expect It To Be Operated BY An ex First Choice.
I Personally Wouldnt Have Thought That The Prices For Premium Would Come Down Much From What You Have Been Quoted
Gower
I've heard of people getting good Premium prices, but I suspect that's probably with a new booking, but not to upgrade an existing booking?
Cheap premium seats only normally become available if someone cancels or there are a few last minute seats left. Other than that, it's full price.
Darren
If they don't know which aircraft they are using until early May, how do they know how many Premium seats they can sell. as the Premium configurations are quite different?
Thomson Airways will know what aircraft they are using, ie ex-FCA or TOM up until end of October 2010, and are probably already working on winter 2010 and beyond. It can of course change between now and then, but they'll have things scheduled. It's just we (myself and Gower) aren't privy to that information this far in advance.
Darren
I was thinking of upgrading but have 3 long hauls next year,
1 x PE with Virgin
1 X Premium with Thomsonfly (Sanford)
1 X economy with Thomsonfly
I might just leave the economy one as it is and pay to pick our seats. It will be interesting to try the new 33" seats just to compare it to other flights, as I've heard such good reviews?
The 33" economy seating isn't really new. First Choice introduced it for Winter 2005 followed by Thomsonfly about 2 years ago. Personally, I don't bother with the premium upgrade as economy has everything I want. I'd rather save the money and use it to pay for a nicer hotel and get the benefit for 2 weeks or it pays for my diving.
Darren
I like the fact the seating has a set of 2 together. We are a family of 4 and have pretty much decided that I'll just prebook and choose seat numbers and do the day before check in (as we are 15 mins from Gatwick)
When we fly Virgin, we try to upgrade as the 747's middle row of 4 feels so cramped. Saying that we paid for extra legroom last month (the 3" more) and it was worth every penny.
Im flying on TOM 144 this sunday to Cancun from Manchester. An ex TOM 767 I believe? Does anyone know what flight this is sectored beforehand so I can keep an eye for any possible delays?
Thanks.
C
Hi i wonder if you can help me..I am travelling on Fri 20/11 on TOM068/069 to cancun/gatwick respectively i wondered if you may be able to tell me which actual aircraft will be used and where it will be coming from...Many Thanks
Just flown back from Taba, we went on GOO BG on the way out which was in first choice colours and flew back on a Thomson colour (forgot registration no.)!!! we had seats 32 A and B there and back which were extra legroom and had plenty of space, i would reccommend these , they were near the toilets but that was no problem , the FC plane had a small screen on the bulkhead wall , but the thomson plane we had to view the ceiling mounted screens. Food and service was really good , we also took advantage of day before check-in (at Gatwick) which was really helpful, i would certainly be happy to fly again with these levels of service.
Hi sure this has been asked but dont recall seeing an answer sorry if it has and i missed it i have had a quick look...
It looks like I will be craning my neck then. I expected a 2-4-2 config as we were flying out of Gatwick,
but they do say 2-3-2 is more roomy.
Certainly the planes are much better now with seat back tv's & more leg room. It was a welcome relief when they introduced them.
We flew premium last year as we were offered it at a good price. I absolutely loved all of it apart from the seats. I hated
the solid sides on the seats. The seats at the back are more comfortable & especially as you can move the arm rest out of the way.
Would you happen to know where the plane will be arriving into Gatwick from?
Thanks again.
TOM144/5 is currently operated by an ex-TOM and normally comes in from Barbados (TOM192/3).
Darren
It's too early to know the specific registration for Fridays flight. I'll be able to check for you on Thursday. It's operated by a former First Choice aircraft with G-PJLO and G-OOBM operating out of LGW at the moment. They are both the same so it makes little difference. It doesn't look to have a flight before yours from what I can see at the moment.
Darren
The aircraft usually comes in from Puerto Plata (TOM038/9) before operating your flight.
Darren
Thank you once again Darren.
I see that TOM 818 was again late leaving Manchester today - for the third week running - this time 34 mins late - there seems to be an issue getting this plane away on time ( 29 mins and 30 mins late on the last two weeks ) ? Something perhaps needs to change to correct this if the plane has sat there for a few hours surely ?
Why not write to the airline can't do much from here.
