ali781,

Seating is personal preference. They all offer the same basic facilities so it makes little difference, it's whatever you prefer.

Hi, can anyone tell me which aircraft will operate TOM 2676 from Mnchester to Gran Canaria on 25th June 2011 please?

Thanks in advance, sparky123.

sparky123,

MAN-LPA-MAN (TOM2676/7) are operated by a Boeing 737-800 (winglets).

thankyou, just didn't know if any seats had big "lumps" in your feet area!

ali781,

No, there's no IFE boxes under the seats as the flights are operated by Boeing 757-200.

Sorry Darren, you've helped me and hundreds of other folk in the past on this site, but I do take slight issue with the comment....

I reckon there ARE differences in the seats on aircraft which DOES make some better or worse than others. For example - There's the seat 9A or sometimes seat 11A on some planes - which looks like it might have a window - but sad - you may end up staring at a blank wall for the duration of your flight.

Or there's my pet hate - the 767 long haul central crossover rows. Those rows where the flight crew valiantly try to persuade passengers NOT to cross during flight between sides of the plane - but, of course they do. Clambering over your knees, as you try to sleep.

Or those lovely seats right next to the toilets, where one can listen to musical flushing every two minutes for a nine hour long haul flight, and have folk leaning into your tiny limited space as they queue for the loo.

Or the seats next to the doors - which tend to be really cold on some flights. I've seen Monarch planes with great wads of tissue jammed into the gaps in the ceiling to try to reduce the condensation raining on passengers below.

Or overhead IFE - likely to vanish on many flights over the next twelve months - but there's many times I've got a really stiff neck trying to watch a movie on a screen at an impossible angle.

And of course there's the in-flight service. Despite travelling for many times each year I've still never managed to figure out the top secret system of just how and where they start drinks and food services. According to the Law of Murphy, I always know that on a long haul flight where a "choice" of meal is promised - by the time they reach my seat there will be no choice left - other than "Eat or Don't Eat"

I know that BY-TOM-AMM-FCA- once posted a helpful guide to actual seat conditions - but I've lost the link, and possibly it's become outdated anyhow as planes change.

OK this post is slightly tongue in cheek
- and please do keep helping me and everyone else with great flight information.

But actually I personally do think some seats are really horrible and that's why I really welcome the wonderful new facility of coughing up a few extra pounds to get precisely the seat I want.
And amazingly - it almost always works these days.

I just need to understand the secret system of where in-flight food/drink service starts......

ukbill,

BuT all that is personal preference and to a certain extent, perception? The above was in reference to ali781's flights on the 757-200 but every seat has the same basic facilities and seat pitch. Of course there are subtle differences on odd seats, but they are basically the same. For example, seats next to doors can feel a little cooler and sometimes drafty due to lower insulation. Personally, I don't mind these rows as it often feels warm to me on most flights, but this is restricted to extra legroom seating normally and we often advise of this on here when requested. An odd row doesn't have a window or a partial view, but the actual seats are the same which is what we're talking about above. We can advise on rows with no windows if that's essential. Some pull the blinds down as soon as they are seated and aren't fussed about the views. Again, personal preference. On the 767's, passengers are told not to cross the aircraft but some do. That's not a difference in the aircraft, that's just passengers not obaying instructions or thinking about those sat in those seats and we often advise about this if people are asking about extra legroom seats on that type. Again, those that have seats near the toilets, some don't mind it, some do. It's all personal preference. We can't give out specific details of every seat with every request or I'd have to give up full time work just to post replies here! If members want information about specific seats, that's fine but in general terms, actual seats are the same other than 3 or 4 rows on each aircraft.

There's no secret about where food and drink services start. It depends on the aircraft type, but there's one cart at the front and one at the back and they meet in the middle!

Watford Travellers,

Your flight should be coming in from either Montego Bay (TOM024/5) or Sanford (TOM046/7) operated by G-OOBM / G-DBLA respectively. Both are currently showing as ontime. Have a great holiday :cheers :sun2

lklaura,

It doesn't matter, it's the same aircraft type.

thanks darren, all booked now. i can see what you mean by personal preference. i just didn't want anything to reduce legroom even more, thats all i was concerned about.
thanks again

Everything I wrote is still valid, unfortunately someone in a tidy up excercise decided to delete a load of pages which included my descriptions of seats. I don't have a copy of what I wrote and don't have the desire to waste my time to help when people delete them after a short while. I had passengers tell me about it and how helpful it was without realising it was me that wrote it, unfortunately someone on here thought otherwise....
