Hi I'm going on holiday in 2 weeks and I still haven't received my tickets from Thomsons. :( I phoned them on Saturday and they tell me they have had some problems at head office. Has anyone else had any problems getting their tickets?.

Update Today I phoned Thomsons as I still have no tickets :( They tell me that head office has had a back log. If I have not received them by the end of the week, I need to phone again. I go on the 12 May and have been told they may have to send me a print out, I will then have to pick my tickets up at the airport. I have never had to do this before and I am slightly worried. What is happening to Thomson? I have been with them in the past and I have always received my tickets 3 weeks in advance.

I have my fingers crossed that they come this week. Holidays can be stressful enough without the worry of tickets not arriving

Hi Gillian,

We are in the same boat as you but we fly to Jamaica with Thomson on May 6th and have yet to receive tickets.

We phoned them on the 23rd april and were told they had been sent that day but if they had not been received by today to call again.

Have called again today and now if we dont have them by Saturday(the last possible day for them to arrive by post due to the bank holiday) to call and arrange for them to be collected from the airport on the day of departure.

We have never had this before and are a little unsure how this works ,perhaps some one on the forum could help to explain how and where to collect tickets at Gatwick North :que

Hiya Gillian and karll,

I am a travel agent for first choice/thomson, what it's called is a ticket on departure (tod) if you book in a shop like First Choice and I think Thomson they usually give you a tod letter to give to the Thomson ticket (not check in) desk at the airport, it may differ depending on who you booked through though (internet, thomson/fc shop etc) Clarify exactly what you need to do with Thomson depending on who you booked via. The desk will need to see your confirmation invoice/reference number for Thomson though, they will then print off the tickets at the Thomson airport ticket desk (NOT the check in desks) You will need to get to the airport a bit earlier to do this to ensure you get to check in in time as you need to pick the tickets up from a different desk first, then go to check in and all done :) I suppose its like an e-ticket you get on scheduled flights (although ive never seen a tod) but yeah, they print it all at the airport for you, as long as you have relevent documentation.

Hopefully though you'll have your proper tickets soon, although I think they have been a bit later coming in lately.

Cheers :tup

Thanks for the info SMILEonholiday ,when you say booking conformation this raises more questions as we have only received the conformation when we originaly booked.

This shows the deposit was paid and when the balance was due.

Once i had paid off the balance i have never received a receipt for this although my bank statement shows they have taken the money.

So will the original conformation with the booking ref on be sufficant to get my tickets?

If it was booked on the internet I am not 100% but in store we print a TOD letter advising of the procedure (going to airport, handing over ref number etc) and it will have ref number, surname dep date on it. I think a confirmation letter/email will need to be sent out to you if booking on the net to take to the airport for a TOD. If you do not recieve your tickets 10 days before departure they will not issue tickets so you would have to contact Thomson who will set up a TOD for you and they should send some sort of letter/confirmation if this.

I would ring Saturday as they have adv you (You could ring again in next couple of days but they probably have a note on system saying saturday) if you still havent got them, give thomson a call, and they will set it up for you and arrange the procedure. Sorry to confuse you!!! It's just I'm so used to what we do in my store!!! We print the letter instead of thomson!! So basically; they will set it up and probably either give you a confirmation/tod letter to give to the Thomson ticket desk at the airport OR give your original confirmation.

Hope that helps!!

Hi Karll
I have had a look on the net this morning and I phoned Thomsons head office about my tickets that have not arrived yet :( . They have told me to phone this number 0870 2413051 if I have not received them by the 9th May.( I travel on the 12th) They said if my tickets hadn't come by this date, they would issue me with a ticket on departure. I am a little worried, because like yourself I have never done this before. They assure me they do this on a regular basis for last minute bookings. Apparently Thomsons have had a problem with their ticket machine.

I hope you get sorted and have a great time in Jamaica :sun2

Thanks also to SMILEonholiday for your help

Glad your tickets have arrived to Gillian.

It seems the ticket machine is the reason its last minute this year then, but at least we have them.

Enjoy your holiday!!!!! :cheers

Hi, I am new to this forum and would be interested if anyone else has had a similar problem.
My husband & I have recently booked a 14 night Thomson Gold Holiday in a Thomson Travel Shop to Limassol in Cyprus on 24 August 08. The flight is from Gatwick North to Paphos - Flight No's are FCA4724 & FCA 4725.
As we always pre-pay for an extra 5 kilos of luggage allowance each, I asked the agent if she could arrange this for us, she gave me the telephone number of Thomsonfly and suggested I did this direct with them.
I telephoned Thomsonfly only to be told that we have got to book this with First Choice Airlines as our flights are being provided by First Choice even though the holiday is only available to Thomson customers and staying in a Thomson Gold Hotel.
I then telephoned First Choice Airlines and was told that I would be unable to pre-book extra luggage allowance and that I would have to pay £7.00 per kilo at Gatwick when we checked in. The pre-bookable Thomsonfly price is £49 for 10 Kilos (5 kilo's each, return) therefore we would have to pay over £100 more just because we are flying with First Choice Airlines.
My husband has written to Thomson Holidays regarding this matter is has been told that as we are not flying with Thomsonfly they are unable to assist us with our request. This is currently being pursued with TUI Customer Services.
We were NOT informed by the travel agent that the flights would be provided by First Choice or that Thomson customers would receive a lesser service than if the flight was with Thomsonfly.
If we had realised that we would be at a disadvantage by flying with First Choice Airlines, we would have made sure that our flights were with Thomsonfly, but this was not made clear by the travel agent, nor is it clearly defined in the Thomson brochures
Has anyone else had this happen to them and if so, how was it resolved.
Many thanks

We may book our 2009 holiday with Thomson but waiting around for FC prices. I am just wondering whether you can manage an online booking with Thomson e.g. pay off the balance when you can?!

As we have done this with FC and its the only way we can really afford a holiday!

We booked our holiday with Thomson online and paid our deposit at the time. We went online to pay the balance and it said with our booking reference number we could not pay on line and had to phone the call centre! Seems strange to me as it was an online booking.

HI,

We are flying with Thomsons from East Midlands to Sharm in a few weeks, can anyone please help clarify the luggage allowances:
Our tickets state 20kg hold allowance which is ok (they also state that anyone piece of luggage must not exceed 32kg) so I thought I would put our 3 allowances together in 2 cases.
The website states - Excess weight charges will be made on checked in luggage over 20kg, then a few lines further down says - any one piece of luggage must not exceed 32kg!!
It also says you now can`t combine luggage allowances!
They seem to say one thing then contradict themselves, I have tried e`mailing them a few times to get something in writing but they won`t even acknowledge the e`mails! can anyone help - does anyone actually know the correct info as I would hate to get stung for excess baggage but on the other hand don`t want to take 3 small cases unless I really have to!
Many thanks

you get 20kg hold baggage plus 5 kg hand luggage per fair paying passenger..

there is no contradictions on the site [possibly not simply worded]

this can be up to 23kg in the hold and 2kg hand or 15 hold & 10 hand
IF you go above the allowances [ max 23 check in 2 hand] then charges will apply to that persons baggage
in any case no check in item can weigh more than 32KG [this will reduce to the EEC max of 221/2 kg for manual handling sometime in the future] due to current health and safety agreements

thats how i read my tickets.. daz or befree or one of our other experts will jump in if I'm wrong

Hi,

I`ve just got off the phone with Thomsons, actually got thru to a person after pressing 6 different buttons, but at least no holding on today.
She says its now like First Choice 20kg max per case plus 5kg hand luggage or you will incurr charges! so going to stick to the 3 small cases and not risk it! holidays cost enough without them stinging you for more £`s at the airport.

Thats probably the safest bet katiesmum. Even if you consolidated your allowance into 2 large cases rather than 3 small one & it was OK at the UK end, they can be funny at Sharm airport & you might bet stung there.

In the past we have always done the same as you. ie 4 of us but taking 3 largish cases, as it is difficult for me to carry a case these days, but the teens can manage fine. This year I am going for 4 smaller cases to be on the safe side. :(

We are going to Turkey 2 weeks today and we have not received our tickets but reading the replies above I am not worried - yet!!! I was wondering if anyone could confirm if you need to check in 2 or 3 hours before and if anyone flew without having a meal were your seats already allocated when you got to the aiport. Last time we flew with Thomsons they sat everyone together who were not having a meal. Thanks
