Hi all,

I've got a holiday coming up in July to the Maldives (booked with First Choice) and want to upgrade to premium class. However it is pretty expensive at £290 each. Does anyone know if the prices come down nearer the time or if there's any way to get it slightly cheaper.

Cheers.

son booked his wedding and also booked for us as part of wedding party and for fiances parents as well....booked at same travel agent on same day.....for same apartments...only difference is flying from different airports.....all 3 parties confirmations ect give different dates to pay final balance by mine is the latest ....there is a 2week difference between the first date and mine.....mine is due just under 10wks before departure date.............as also just paid balance of another holiday was working finances to meet that dead line............is this normal.....could they have made mistake about the due date.....am I safe to wait till the day before due to pay by credit card....or like a cheque could there be a need to allow so many days to clear

tweetie pie,

Cheques require 5 working days to clear, those that will not clear 8 weeks before departure will not be accepted. On all our holidays we have taken FC/Tom payments have to be made 8 weeks before your departure date. If that is any help.

The Thomson website is acting very strange today - different flights flying to different resorts. ie Costa Del Sol coming up with Turkish hotel, Costa Del Sol flying to Alicante. :que

I expect they'll soon notice. :really

Hi,
If it was me I would turn up at the airport and enjoy a free holiday on Thomsons!!!!.

Did you advise that you were going to cancel the holiday? If not be prepared for a request for payment to fall on your doormat in due course and a legal battle to get out of it. Simply not paying for the holiday without confirming in writing that you're going to cancel doesn't mean you're not liable for the total cost of the holiday.

can I suggest a simple option.....you will be liable to pay for full holiday as you did not as Mark said cancel in writing....though why you have not been contacted before now for the outstanding balance is strange...they usually cacel your holiday if you dont pay within a given time and where a low deposit only has been taken they demand the difference up to the full deposit

In your position given the circumstances I would contact them and explain what happened ....plead niaevity .....( find someone else to go with you....and will hopefully make a contribution towards the cost )....ask can you change other person on the booking to new name.......pay the oustanding balance....and go have a nice holiday

The alternative is to be legally chased then taken to court....meaning you will have to pay full outstanding monies owed plus any legal and administrative costs involved .....and your credit references will be affected......tweetie

thanks for all the advise regarding the unpaid tickets,as mark stated i will no doubt very shortly recieve a demand for full payment..as the departure date is only 4 days away ive decided to go on the holiday and pay the bill when it arrives..just one last question, what are the chances of being turned away at the airport checkin..its a 450mile round trip to gatwick.

I very much doubt you will get turned away as they have not been in contact by letter or phone and can't imagine them having a notice put up on check-in regarding your holiday.

I know you will be nervous once at check-in as I would be but all you can do is see what happens ,at the end of the day it's there mistake i'm sure if you had paid too much there would be no hurry in paying you the difference back.

I know if it was me I would be very tempted to go on this holiday and my husband said he would try his luck, just go and enjoy yourself

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if you can still combine luggage allowances with Thomson.I have been told that as from May 2009 you cannot do this.We as a family of 4 normally take 3 bags but if this is correct it looks as though we will now have to take 4.Thanks in advance for any replies.

As from 1st of May Thomsons will not take a bag heavier than 23kg according to my documents.
