we are only going for 4 nights depart 2nd oct and return on a night flight the 7th oct when i spoke to thomsons they said they had 10 plus rooms available if i was you i would ring the call centre teh number is on the thomson web page and just ask but ask as if your going to make a new booking thats what i did and hey presto yeaterday the thomson woman who rang me said there is no availabilty anywhere and last night wen i done the same thing i have told you to do hey presto rooms good luck and let us know the outcome catherine

I have it from a reliable source that the Hotel Regente is closing for 4 days only (3/4/5/6th October) in order to apply a special treatment throughout the building from top to bottom, which can only be done to obtain the best results, if the building is empty.

This decision is a joint decision taken by all the parties involved, which includes the Medplaya enterprise and Thomson.
Thomson have not pulled out of this hotel and they have been working very closely with the management to eliminate and get to the bottom of this.
The decision was taken after all the other precautions and testings were done and found to be showing well above satisfaction results...eg; food. water, kitchen hygiene etc etc. 97% out 0f 100%

It looks like common sense prevails eventually as far as the hotel itself goes. A few days business lost is to me nothing compared to the amount of bad publicity and opinion that would've continued to spread had they not taken any action to do this process. Since chivas himself, and sanji say so, this looks to be a very good hotel that has for whatever reason got a nasty bug in it. Fingers crossed this eliminates it.

I met you last year in the Regente Sanji.The friend i am talking about enjoyed her stay that much,she booked again with all her family.The so called bug was around last year but non of us 18 got it.

She has just phoned me and said they have offered her cyprus going on thursday not saturday and they have to pay another £100 per person .They said nobody has been moved to the ambassador someone is lying.They have said if they give them the ref number they will look into it.I believe they have changed you catherinene,i think the problem is the 5 free kids places.

They have offered them the money back but as they have lost 5 free kids places

The best thing to do is look at what surcharges for under occupancy have been levied.

There is no such thing as Free. It is clawed back elsewhere.

It has been pointed out in the past here on HT that it is often cheaper to book and pay for children as adults - the surcharges applied often work out more expensive.

i have to disagree with you there, ive been on a few holidays where a free child is free and we are going on 1 such hol in 3 weeks with portland , i have not paid any supplements or any charges at all for my daughter, it even says 2 x tax charges and not 3 and child free, the total only came to £312 for the 3 of us for the package, so there are some companies that dont charge i know there is also a lot that do, but my point is they dont all charge supplements for free kids , you just need to be careful when booking

hi i cant believe thomsons are telling you that nobody has moved to the ambassador have you checked online to see if there is any availabilty for then if so then i would save the page and e mail it to who ever is dealing with your enquiry good luck i hope your friend and her family get sorted catherine

Most hotels which are H/B base their rooms on Two adults. Any free children will always be Free if there are the two adults in the room!
It's usually s/c where they base a room on 4 adults that they do you for the under occ!

Hi, I have just this minute got in after spending over an hour in thomson's, went in to pick my tickets up, the girl handed them over, and nothing was mentioned about the hotel, (so when would they have got around to telling me?),it was only when I asked the girl she said she would ring up and check my information regarding the hotel being closed/shutdown/thomson's pulling out from their contract.,(whatever the reason?) she came back and said "Yes thomsons are not sending any of their customers to this hotel, due to health and safety" (That is all she was told). She looked my dates up and came back with 1 available hotel (The one I mentioned previousely - too long of a name for me to remember), but this hotel is 3/4 miles out of benidorm, is a 5* B&B at a price of £637 per person, (Which works out about £1,900), was told I would have to pay the extra £1,300 (I did check this out myself, and there is only that accom available)

Now considering I only payed just short of £600 for the three of us (Our lad got a free childs place - he is 13 - and at the time the regente was doing a promotional offer, for free childs place up to the age of 14). - It would have been a hell of a lot of extra cash for me to stump up. (Nearly treble ) - Now if thomson had decided to pull out, (Or for whatever reason ), a few weeks earlier (When I brought this matter to their atention, and asked to change accom), there were plenty of accomm's available a few weeks back! I was also offered a refund, or I could have the 3 seats for £149.00 per person. + £45 for transfers = £495.00, (and find my own accommodation) and get a refund for the remaining amount £90 odd quid!

Just looked on jet2 for flights 2-9 oct, and they are working out at the same price thomson offered me them for, so what we have decided to do is keep those flights, (Unless of course we find a great deal - we would then cancel,-but that is looking doubtful), so we'll look for our own accommodation, and take the £90 odd quid change!

Just had a quick look on accom only websites, but the prices are are coming out more than we originally payed for our package holiday , plus we have a very limited choice - so if any members see any good accom only deals for tue 2 - tue 9 oct for 7 days, please would you pm me, many thanks!

I truly hope that you manage to get something booked after all the hassle you've had.

I really wish that Thomson's had to compensate you properly for any additional expense you have as it's their fault, but unfortunately they are not obliged to do so.

There was nothing available on Travel Republic, but http://www.lowcostbeds.com has some availability, but unfortunately it's going to cost you more than the original holiday.

Have you tried contacting any of the hotels direct to see if they have availability?

I really hope you manage to get something booked soon so that you can start looking forward to your holiday.

The only (affordable) accommodation I have found so far is the gala placidia (Travel republic £316 for the three of us), - but the very few reviews I have found on this hotel are not brilliant!

This was the very first hotel we ever went to, when we started holidaying in benidorm, I can remember we went in the sep (03/,04 - I think ), a last min holiday (Before I got a computer ), anyway we went in the sep, and the following month in the oct, it was getting renovated (Which it really really needed), one thing I do remember about this hotel was the food - It was absolutely lovely, at the time it was an ona (Uno?) sol hotel, but since it has been renovated I don't know know if another company has taken over, as it is not advertised in any of our brochures (well I have not come accross it anyway), would be interested to know if any HT members have been to this hotel recently - because it is a great price!

I did price the ambassador up, which was just over £600, and to be honest with just 10 days to go, it's going to be a struggle to find such an amount!

The other option was the perla b/b 2*£245.00, I can remember seeing this hotel when we stayed at the orange our balcony was almost opposite this hotel, the reviews for this hotel are quite good - but mostly the 18-30's (Its deffo a cheap n cheerful hotel), - but it did look nice enough.

Really really undecided what to do book the gala placidia, perla, but to be totally honest, the way i'm feeling at the moment. I'd be quite happy just to cancel

Will keep on looking tonight for alternative (Cheapish ) accommodation, and will decide tommorow, (When I'm not as stressed!)

I have only managed a quick look so far at Beninter, and they are showing availability at a few hotels for your dates. For example, a triple room at the Ambassador Playa €406.70, at the Rosamar €529.20, at the Alameda €455.70. That is the price per room (in Euros) on a half board basis, full board prices are also available.

Apartment prices with Beninter for those dates start at €218.05 for a 1 bedroom apt sleeping 4 or €302.05 for a 2 bedroom apt sleeping 6. Prices per apartment, not per person.

Hi David, as soon as I saw your price for the ambassador, I went straight on there, but the price came to over 1.000E , as son is 13 he is classed as an adult, so I had to enter 3 adults,(2 adults and 1 child was still coming out at over 800E) - could be possible from the time you saw the price, to me checking it out, - it could have gone up! although they don't say what their age restrictions are, usually when you enter a child, you get a message asking for their age, but I will work my way down your list ,
