Ticlo looks like it has had a face lift........well by that I mean they have painted the outside!!! Looks better from the outside than it's ever looked before so I wonder what's lurking within if they've cancelled!!
Ticlo is in the heart of Calangute close to all amenities and a short walk to the beach so if you booked it for this reason I'd look possibly at The Mira Hotel, Horizon, Senhor Angelo or Sila Goa (all close by). The Peninsular is in south Calangute away from the main high st - If I'm thinking of the right place, (....and I'm sure someone on here will confirm or correct me) It's on Holiday St above the Italian clothing shop so location wise they are sticking you well out of the way from where you have paid good money to be.

Ditto the last post, lots of good suggestions there, mind you there are several good resturants close by and its just a few minutes down Holiday rd to the beach and loads of good shacks. I,m pretty sure the holiday company has a different agenda to the reason they gave you though. The Peninsular is used a lot by local tourists down from Mumbai and last season it was full of Russian package tourists, who seem to get a very bad reputation for their behaviour from most of the locals I've spoken to It is however a newish hotel but speaking from a personal viewpoint I woud'nt stay in it for the reasons stated Alan

I spoke to the holiday company today and they told me they had "cancelled the contract" with this hotel and there were no other upgrades unless I start from scratch. Never mind, i'm sitting here enjoying a small glass of honeybee (driving to Manchester tomorrow) and I can't wait for my 2 weeks of heaven starting tomorrow - i'll let you know when i get back - maybe see some of you at lazy days after anjuna on wednesday...............................I love this feeling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I recall something similar happened last year with people being moved to this hotel. I think the real reason is there is an overcapacity of hotel beds and the companies are getting rockbottom rates from hotels trying to get business and are using any excuse to get out of contracts. Certainly at this time of the year up until before xmas there is loads of spare capacity and if the companies say outherwise they are at it Alan

We had a change the first year and I was polite and firm with the Tour Op but ensured we had a replacement that we wanted, were we wanted. By the way hotxbun I know you are on your way now but I had my husband on suicide watch and hid all the knives when Watford went ahead 2-1 against the Toon!
