I just went out and bought Strapless bikinis for when i go to egypt.. you do get white bits but at least no strap marks
sharon(sitting with a bag on her head)
well even a standard bikini can be undone, or adjusted to hide straps, and, even halternecks can be adjusted or flopped down.
but you wouldnt parade around the street in a bikini or short skirt, or go for lunch/dinner just sat there with a bikkini on would you.??????? it is also disrespectful.............
it is even frowned upon the men going to bar without covering up!!!!!, and even worse sitting there with his top off at lunch????
paper bag may get a little hot in egypt unless you put air holes in it
Actually when i went topless it was for vain reasons, eg, strap marks etc. This year in sharm i bought several strapless bikinis from bloomingdales in NYC and wore them, so didnt go topless once. However in our resort SBR especially around the italian animation pool and Oasis pool, nearly everyone was topless. There were certainly no rules around the pool or beach. There were rules, but didn't mention topless.
But the topic is about going topless which is different to showing your ankles, and no I wouldn't go topless in a country where it is frowned upon. But if some hotels are allowing it then people shouldn't get upset if women strip off at that hotel. I don't even sunbathe these days but years ago I did and then I sunbathed topless in countries that allowed it, but would always cover up when speaking to staff or anyone else for that matter.

I agree Judith i always covered up when speaking to staff on the beach, in fact i only went topless on my sunbed, i never paraded around like it. Now i have my strapless i am happy, no more burnt calaramis or circumferences
and usually its certain ladies or not ladies as the case may be that think they have a superb figure when clearly they dont, and can get their kit off anywhere or, are of a certain type that just dont careless if they are being oggled at in either manner, hate or lust.
our hotel clearly stated NO Topless. as i said in my original thread, it was some that just chose to be ignorant.
any enough said by me on this topic, i started something here.
just glad to say that we have chosen to go back to this hotel at christmas because it was A1 for many reasons, and recommended to us for exactly these reasons.
maybe i will write a thread again in new year if i see the topless rule being broken
I think you are getting a bit too personal making assumptions that women who sunbathe topless are somehow lesser persons than people who don't. You obviously don't like it and probably wouldn't anywhere, but you are certainly getting carried away with your observations, how on earth can you make statements about women being of a certain type and ' would get their kit off anywhere' and expect to be taken seriously? You have absolutely no idea of the character of most women who choose to sunbathe topless and to make the assumptions you have is totally unfair.
Yes, you and anyone else are entitled to like or dislike the practice of sunbathing topless but this is not a forum for name calling, which is what you are doing.
After all the topic was sunbathing topless in Eygpt and almost all posters have said they wouldn't do it, so why go on about it.
Let`s put a sign up saying NO NAME CALLING...
i do have to say you have gone a little OTT with your reply, obviously hit a raw nerve there?
i think you took it rather personally perhaps
i dont recall name calling at all either, no use of "bad words"? and i was refering to people that i know not in general or you!!!!!!
as for my observations - merely the fact i have had holidays almost 2 or 3 times a year in many different countries over the last 25 years with various friends, groups, family friends, people that we have met on holiday, or met and gone on holiday with, of all age groups, men and women and i was just pointing our from my own personal observations of them, whom you dont even know, what they are like with their attitudes. some are ladies and some are gents and some are not, some are just rude and ignorant, and some just down right vain.
all of which are from all walks of life and 99.9%, (solicitors, police, barristers, teachers, city bankers, etc), of them we have remained friends with for all these years..........
so i dont see that it was at all necessary for you to take it all to heart and think it personal,
i dont even know you.
perhaps you are having a bad day.
i dont see any of the others being torn strips off by you for what is their blunt opinion. ie doepsmc or Jay Trip,
perhaps no one should reply to this thread, as it is obviously hitting a nerve with a few people.
i wont be, and already turned off the notify sign to email.
Best to lock this one me thinks.
I will re-open the topic, but if members can't refrain from making what are seen as personal attacks it will be locked again - this time for good.
I hadn't been taking this personally, I am far too old and wise to take something a stranger has said on the internet personally. I don't understand though what was meant by 'hitting a raw nerve' and I certainly am not having a bad day, quite the contrary.
I was also asked why I hadn't torn strips off other posters who had said they didn't like topless sunbathing,( I wasn't aware I had torn a strip off of him, I had only said I did not like name calling),but the other posters whose opinions I respect and who do not like topless sunbathing did not denigrate in their posts those who do so .
I like to think this is a friendly forum and that we can discuss things in a reasonable manner but I did feel somewhat under attack with the final post before the forum was locked so I'm glad that I can now have the opportunity to answer.
I'm sure most people don't want to spend anymore time on this topic, almost everyone even those who do sunbathe topless said they wouldn't where it wasn't allowed so hopefully we can bring it to a close.
Whew... got that off my chest.
I actually agree with you Judith. Every country and every member on here will have their own thoughts on the topless subject. As i said i did go topless, but for vain reasons, but on the other hand i didnt this year. I dont frown upon it, or say so to anyone, its like having tattoos and people not liking them, some do, some dont. its everyones choice.
I thought it was illegal in Sharm to sunbathe topless?
I dont think so.....the reason i say this is i asked several of our friends that are Egyptians, they said not. Because it is a muslim country everyone assumes it is mainly because we have the need to cover up in religious places. As some members on here have stressed, some hotels and beaches have a ruling about it. The hotel that i have been to hasn't mentioned a ruling, nor the beach. That said, i am sure people would adhere to the rules and wouldn't flout them, if that was the case.
perhaps we should all be born fully clothed
i am 50+ lady and yes i have gone topless in turkey for the last 4 years, purely on the sunbeds and yes for vanity reasons, didnt want endless marks from the different tops, but yes i will abide by the rules of the hotel, i have looked all over for strapless tops this year just so i dont get tram lines
Why would you want to get your boobs out in front of everyone, that's what I don't understand. My figures not too bad but I still wouldn't dream of flaunting myself in front of everyone. Each to their own though I suppose.
what i do have a problem with is the people who go topless in the swimming pool or aroung the childrens pool.
i was once asked by a youngish lady to blow up her airbed whilst my wife was sat next to me almost pooked my eye out actually
