the train station is in the centre of soller not the port of soller.there is very little parking, there is some behind the church but it is metered ,(pay and display i think) best bet would be to try and park in port soller and get the tram up to the station. it is practically impossible to miss the train station!!!!!then again i was there in june at it was very busy end sept may be quieter

There is a municipal car park 10 minutes walk from the station of Avegnida Gran Via or at the far end of Caller Sa Lluna which is one way and a nightmare to negotiate thro' the narrow streets, which you have to pay for. Avoid parking on street in Central Soller, its expensive and a hassle. To be honest, I go to Soller every year and the best plan is to park in one of carparks in the port and tram it to the train station and back (or take a cab at 6 euros??). Some carparks are free others are only 3 euros a whole day.

NOTE!!!! Please ensure you pay for as long as you want to park as the fines are painful and expensive in comparison to the three euro all day charge (as I discovered after choosing to sleep off a Estrella hangover rather than paying for my parking ticket!!! I was fined 15 euros! Ouch!

Hi

We would like to know a bit more about the trains that run in Mallorca. We are staying in Puerto Pollenca this year and would like to go to Palma by train. I believe this is possible from Sa Pobla but do the trains go anywhere else?

We have experienced the amazing train journey from Soller to Palma in 2003, but only know of these two routes.

It's definitely worth doing the bus/train trip from Puerto Pollensa to Sa Pobla to Palma as you see a lot of the countryside. You can also drive & park in Sa Pobla but the bus is more fun. There is also a train from Inca to Manacor stopping at Sineu & Petra. You will find timetables etc. at
http://tib.caib.es/index_tren.htm and more on buses etc. from Puerto Pollensa at http://www.puertopollensa.com/transport.html

I have just found that tib web site now lists timetables for all routes in Mallorca: buses, trains & the bus/train between Puerto Pollensa & Palma which is here (NB a .pdf file so you need Acrobat Reader to view it) - see http://tib.caib.es/doc/bus_tren/IB-22bus_tren.pdf This is currently the winter timetable so hopefully they will keep it up to date.

The train Will be running to Soller them, we went for a 5 day break to Palma in January and went on it, it was lovely, lovely scenery. We were really lucky with the weather, sunny for the 5 days. We flew bmi baby which we booked ourselves and then booked the Catalonia Majorica hotel b and b in PALMA

Other than being fairly close to Barcelona, I suspect that Salou will be a ghost town in Nov. Better with Palma. The Soller train runs all year round, as well as being a tourist attraction it's also a commuter train for Soller.

Thanks for the information
We have decided on Palma as it won't be as deserted as Salou
Thanks again

During my forthcoming holiday in Pollensa I am planning to take the train from Soller to Palma.
Can any-one recommend a car-park fairly near to soller railway station please? (for all-day parking).

Hi Colin,
You've made a good choice. This train journey is wonderful, great fun and a good way to see Palma. We did exactly what you did as we were staying in Puerto Pollensa. I'd say get up very early. If I remember we got the 8.00. or 9.00 am train and the journey from Pollensa is longer than you'd think.... maybe an hour or more, so we had breakfast in Soller while we waited for the train.
As regards parking there is a car park on the right soon after you turn into Soller from the road that goes on to Valldemosa & Deia. There is also one past the square which I think is signposted. (It was about 5 years ago so I don't know if they're still there) You shouldn't have as much difficulty as we did during the height of the summer.
Hope this was of some help1
Enjoy!

this is definitely the best way to do it. trying to get on the train in Palma, especially the tourist one that stops at the viewpoint is a nightmare. a seat if you're lucky!

going on an early-ish train from Soller is the best idea, coming back from Palma later in the day - much more civilised.

don't forget if you want to get the train from the Puerto Pollensa area to Palma, you can as well, Sa Pobla is the nearest town with a railway station. ok its a fifteen minute drive from PP - but still saves the hassle of trying to park in Palma.

Hoping to take the morning train from Soller to Palma and returning later in the day. Have noticed on return that that there are only times of 15-10 and 19-30 for trains. Are these trains ever full up so we cannot get back?

yep
yep i'm afraid it does sometimes wiht all the tour guided trips they use the same trains

it is beautiful though up there and what we did last year was we stayed overnight and then got the early mornign train back to Palma

With the bus station virtually next to the Soller train station you will not be stranded, but the 17.30 bus back to Soller or the Port does get pretty full.

Hope you enjoy the trip

I think she is refering to the Palma to Soller train.

You get the train from the station in the same street as the main Palma bus station.
