Hi little legs .. page 1 of this topic contains links to recommended insurers, and it would be worth you trying those listed under the "Cover for pre-existing medical conditions" section.

However, Insure & Go are one of the companies listed in that section, and I know that they have previously been mentioned in this topic specifically in relation to cover for epilepsy.

It may also be worth checking with the British Epilepsy Association to see if they have any recommendations.

my wife was has bowel and bladdr cancer which was diagnosed last September and operated on in October. Things have been fine since then and she has had a stent fitted to her bladder. Having difficulty getting a quote for insurance, most companieds will not qoute. I have tried several of the companies mentioned on page 1 of this topic and as i say most will not quote.

can anyone recommend a company that I can try that will cover people with cancer. we are both in our 40's

Thanks

I believe they are mentioned on Page 1, but my friend had terminal breast cancer and got cover for 5 months in Zante for £67 (sixty seven) from Citibond. She went through their medical screening by phone and if she needed medical treatment related to her cancer the excess would have been £250.

However this was in 2003 and things may have changed, but they are worth a phone call if you haven't tried them already. Unfortunately I have a vague recollection of someone on here trying them and they wouldn't cover.

My friend got a list of companies to try from the Association of British Insurers http://www.abi.org.uk

Thanks for the prompt replies. I have sincefilled in an online quote for http://www.allcleartravel.co.uk
and while it is more expensive than normal, £125 for annual travel, it is certainly a lot better than I hoped for. I will give them a call to confirm our details etc

As otheres have mentioned it is disgraceful that companies can get away with the extrotianate prices they charge. It would be interesting to know how many people who have cancer actaully claim each yaer as a result of their cancer. In comparision how many people claim as a result of an injury sustained while under the influence of drink etc.

is there someone I can write to to highlight this injustice or is there a petition about this

Hi Stewart, glad you got sorted out - hope you have a good holiday and that your wife is now OK.

We found and used All Clear when my husband had to have an operation earlier this year and I found we could no longer renew our annual insurance with ACE. Having looked into a lot of insurance small print, it is a wonder any insurance companies pay up for anything! It's also amazing how many people don't declare their pre-existing condition, at the risk of a valid claim being rejected. I object to having to declare my husband's high blood pressure - as it is managed successfully with tablets, he is surely less at risk than one of the thousands who are walking about, totaly unaware that they have the condition but what's at risk if we don't decalre it is not something I'd like to chance.

Hi.

When it comes to travel insurance, is there any difference between booking a package holiday or booking flights, transfers, accommodation etc. separately yourself?

Usually they just ask to which country you are travelling so I would assume all the insurance costs and cover will be the same, but I thought I would check here to see if anyone has a different experience.

Cheers.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't really thought about it. We have an annual policy and I have booked European package holidays, cruises and DIY to Las Vegas on it.

That said, you don't need to advise them when or where you are going, apart from any that are booked when you take out the policy.

I'm pretty sure most cover all aspects of travel as it is travel insurance rather than package holiday insurance.

If arranging a DIY holiday with scheduled flights rather than a package holiday with charter flights, it may also be worth looking at Scheduled Airline Failure Insurance (SAFI) which is unlikely to be included in a standard travel insurance policy.

I have just signed up to a Capital One credit card and they say one of the benefits of the card are they offer free holiday insurance cover as long as you purchase the holiday with their credit card.

First off all i have not booked a package holiday but have booked flights and hotel seperately with their card, so does this still count for the insurance cover?

Secondly, will their cover be as comprehensive as booking with an insurance company?

Anybody have any experience of this card that can answer any of the above question?

Thanks

I also have a Capital One card and when I read their insurance it looked fairly comprehensive. However I prefer to take out an annual policy to be on the safe side, I hope.

You would really need to call them to see if booking the elements separately would be covered.

It would be appreciated if you would post their response if you do call them.

We seem to use a different company each year. Just keep getting quotes. At the moment Morethan is our choice £92 for 2 annual policy but only 90 days max stay on any one holiday. This may not help as not long enough, but they may quote for longer stay. We find getting competitive insurance for an empty house more of a problem

I suggest trying this site

http://www.intunegroup.co.uk/Product/?Category=Travel&WT.SVL=1

This is part of Help the Aged ,and that means anyone over 50 years.I used it for my house insurance and halved the cost.

Worth a try, I got a Worldwide yearly quote for two for £88.Thats as far as I went ,never checked for medicals etc..

Hi Split - we go to Tunisia for 6 months every year and always have our insurance cover from Direct Insurance. (http://www.direct-travel.co.uk )You can book this on line and they cover anyone up to the age of 65 AT THE TIME OF BOOKING. So even if you are 66 the day after you book, it is still OK. They are also very competitive on price. Unfortunately, as we both had our 65th birthdays this year, we will not be able to use them in future years as we will be 66 when we book. All best - Jenny x
