We booked a 10 day holiday with them to Menorca. Our 2 children were taken very ill on 2nd day at the hotel and had to be taken in an ambulance to hospital where they stayed for 4 days. We found out that others were ill at the hotel too (the hotel confirmed this) and so as soon as they were discharged we flew home.
Travel Republic are not interested in our complaint. I am not asking for an extra money (although we had to spend a lot on taxis, flights home etc.) but just a refund for the accommodation but they are not interested.....
I have tried to get their attention on twitter but nothing. I have to say we have used them once before and everything was fine but now there is a problem their customer service changes completely....
Your contract is with Travel Republics supplier. Have you tried contacting them? TR can only act as a go between, and owe you nothing in monetary terms.
Did you contact your insurance company when the children were ill? If so, they may pay for taxis, and if they said the children had to return early for medical reasons they would have arranged and paid for flights. They wouldn't do this is if the return wasn't medically necessary though.
Illnesses, particularly gastric ones, if this is what it was in your case, spread like wildfire in that sort of environment. They're often started by someone going on holiday when they've got something, and they pass it on. It's hard to get rid of. Think of the problems that our hospitals seem to have every winter.
What was the illness? Have you got medical proof what the cause was?
