i always buy travel wash, clothes pegs & washing line when i get ther, then just throw them away before i go home.They are really cheap in the supermarkets & also more and more places are offering laundry service, in corfu for 15 euros it was picked up from your apt, washed dried and delivered back to your apt, really good service, and the suns always shining if you wash abroad... so no running in & out between the showers to bring it back in

Hi again everyone!

Well I have actually bought the travel wash now anyway - 76p a tube in asda so will see how we get on with it when we are away.

I hadnt thought about looking for pegs and line when I get there, I will prob do that unless I happen to find any bargain ones before I go!!

Dont bother with pegs just get a ball of thick string and half it.Twist the 2 strands together,then when you put you washing on it just loop it through the 2 strands.It really works!

Fatcodycat..when are you going away? Just so you can leave feedback about the travel wash! We go 23rd May and for the first time ever I have bought some travel wash (usually we are self catering so I have always bought stuff there when we did a food shop, but this year we are going all inclusive so figured travel wash would be a good option to use in the hotel sink!) I notice the travel wash is non bio which is good as one of my kids has eczema, does anyone else out there use travel wash and suffer with eczema? If so do you have any reactions with it?

Jaytrip - yes, my husband has already suggested a ball of string so cheapskates that we are thats is prob what we will do!

Twinkletoes - We dont go until 1st june so you will have to let me know how you get on with it!! but 2 weeks all inclusive (lots of icecream!) and only 15kgs luggage limit is the main reason i started looking at the travel wash.

Ah Fatcodycat...we aren't back until the 7th of June so won't be able to let you know how I get on and we are the same....2 weeks all inclusive, 3 kids, lots of ice cream and only 15kgs of luggage lol! :yikes

Yes, I had a half full tube of travel wash which I took away with me recently......and it leaked......maybe I hadn't done the cap up flrimly enough but still....

luckily it leaked all over my sponge bag, and in some ways it worked out welll because I hadn't washed my sponge bag before I went, and it dried in the Tenerife sun

but oh the bubbles took ages to rinse off.......

Hi all
I only ever took travel wash once as i didnt rate it. Dont know if it was the brand i got (cant remember which but would know it if i seen it. It was yellow with some blue) after hearing on here i am coming to the conclusion that maybe i didnt use it right. I have been taking a box of washing powder since but may give the travel wash a go again.

I take a few small blocks of soap powder and just break pieces off depending on size of garment I am washing.They also go in your hand luggage.

I got this stuff from Lakeland Plastics. They're little paper sheets which turn into soap when you put them in water. Better than any travel wash I've used and is as light as a feather.

Hi Yes I wish I'd known about this stuff too before I bought travel wash, but I notice it says it is "perfumed", how perfumed are we talking? Just my son has very sensitive skin and the travel wash is non bio do you know if the sheets are the same? Thanks

They do look good, I am going to get some for my holiday to Turkey, even more important now Thomas Cook give such a mean 15k luggage allowance.

Just back from Tenerife. Forgot to buy Travel Wash this time, I was so busy just before we went away. Anyway, I just used the little bars of soap which the hotel put in the bathroom. I broke a bit off, put it in the sink with the plug in, ran hot water over it and left it to dissolve before putting clothes in. Rinsed clothes well after washing and no complaints about "scratchiness" or any leftover stains on clothes. If the soap in the bathroom is good enough to wash your skin then it's good enough to wash clothes which go next to your skin :wink:

Probably won't bother buying Travel Wash again.

I've also used the shampoo and shower gel that you often find in hotel bathrooms. I figure that if it is good enough for one's body then it is good enough for clothes! I do tend to leave them to soak perhaps while we go down to breakfast and then rinse thoroughly.

Sometimes if I just have one item like a bra for instance I put it in the bath/shower while I am showering and wash it that way. After all unless you get really sweaty it isn't really very dirty just needs a rinse through.
