I came across this site whilst looking up some info for someone this morning:
http://www.babyabroad-mallorca.com/
The more I think about it, the more I think it's a really fantastic idea that will save a lot of parents travelling with babies, a whole load of worry. Having travelled with 7 month old twins where we carted along our own baby milk and done the trial and error bit with disposable nappies and guessed the contents of jars of baby food (pictures on the label giving us some clue) I can say I've been there, done it and bought the T-shirt and probably gained a few more grey hairs along the way....
This company allows you to pre-order a whole variety of English branded baby foods/milks/nappies etc even dummies and suncream and they deliver it to you in resort regardless of where you are staying in Majorca! Now that's what you call a great service and no worries about bubbas having to try something different whilst you're on holiday - they can have the same stuff that they have at home without taking up space in your suitcase!
ALSO
For the hire of baby equipment (buggies, parasols, highchairs, cots, baby walkers, monitors, sterlisers, stair gates, car seats, bedguards and blenders) plus non-baby equipment (mini fridges, kettles, toasters etc etc) try:
http://www.lower-hire.co.uk/childcare.html
We used them for fridge hire in 2008 and my parents are using them for fridge/kettle and fan hire for their forthcoming holiday. Nigel is incredibly helpful.
One thing I could never do is hire a buggy and leave ours at home, we have found it invaluable at the airport at either end for baby to have a nap in, and carrying baby and bags can be awkward
Mind when we went with our twins in their twin buggy and were in apartments where our twin buggy couldn't get along the path to the lift, in the lift and thru' our front door knowing there was somewhere we could have hired 2 single buggies instead of forking out a small fortune on 2 buggies, would have been great!
Congrats on your little surprise....that's lovely! Happy hols!
A couple of years ago this woman insisted on bringing her twins into the entertainment. The babies were hot, red, crying but every nighgt she insisted on pushing a twin buggy around the room, banging peoples ankles and legs whilst looking for a seat.
Selfish or what?
you read they terms?.not good 18 days plus min 35 order
Minimum £35 order -nappies, baby milk, baby food & wipes for a 2 week holiday - you'll spend that WELL easy and look at how much space you'll have in your suitcase and with no worry of excess baggage charges or worry of what you're going to be able to get out there!
18 day delivery - unless you plan on placing an order whilst you're there why on earth would that be a problem? You place your order BEFORE you go, pretty much as you would for transfers and the like. Unless you're disorganised 18 days wouldn't be a problem, don't forget they will probably have to order in from their suppliers!
Jeffro...just becos' you've got a baby doesn't mean you have to stop at home you know! I think there will be many a Mum (myself included) who will find your comment quite offensive! Do new Mum's not deserve a break away? Our twins were absolutely fine, they were kept cool, shaded and watered and were happy as Larry....mind, we're not stoppy out types and have always worked around our kids so at bedtime, we'd go back to apartment, put kids to bed and then sit on balcony reading/playing cards. Other's do it differently....perhaps your twin lady was waiting for someone to do the nice thing and give her a well deserved seat?
sorry to go off topic, but as a dad i find jeffros comment both offensive and insensetive. Why shouldn't families be allowed a holiday in the sun, if you dont like kids in the hotel go to a thomson gold where there are no children. I know my eldest two were far better behaved and far happier in the sun than in a cold caravan in Rhyl, that was no fun for any of us. Really annoys me as well when people write in hotel reviews about too many kids, especially when they are advertised as family friendly hotels
now you put it like that,i guess its a good idea in away.saves packing and weight like you say.you would still need to take just a little bit with you incase the pacel has not been dropped on on time to cover you.
If anyone has a pop at me for actually trying to have a family holiday cause i have babies, i will make a formal complaint to them. A couple of years ago, a lady wasnt impressed as my eldest splashed around in the pool, she told us to control him!!! Boy, did she get a mouthful from me, its a pool and if you dont like it then why sit right close to it.
grrrrrr some people.
Sorry, rant over, back to topic!
You'll be fine with your twins Bev26.....the locals will make a big fuss of your babies - we got T-shirts done for ours with "Si somos Gemelos" on them (Yes, we are Twins) and Tshirts from Twinsclub.co.uk saying "Made in the United Twindom" When are you going?
This particular lady brought her babes in arms into a packed entertainment room. It was very noisy full of children dancing being filmed by mum or dad, it was loud , very hard to hear people speak. Tis you sound nice playing cards on your balcony with junior tucked up in bed. Bev these babies where months old. Jollypostie I`m on about babes in arms. Anyway we`re of to Cala Bona monday A.M.
See you in a weekj
Personally don't like to see babies sleeping in their buggies in bars but that's just me....each to their own and all that. We've always eaten out early and wandered around and/or let the kids play on the beach and as bed-time approached, haved headed back to apartment and put kids to bed and then sat on balcony and played cards or read a book.
Have a great time in Cala Bona, that's where we'll be this summer. I can't wait!
Thanks Tis that means a lot to me. Off to bed soon up at three for early morning flight.
Anyway have a brandy for us in the Bar Jemica
tis - we are off on 24th june - cant wait!
We're going in August and I can't wait, just wish it would hurry up and get here!
Have answered your question about my experience of cots on your thread....if you need to ask any questions before you go, feel free to ask
