Does your holiday confirmation actually show a supplement for a sea view apartment, or does the apartment description on the same confirmation state a sea view? I'm just trying to establish if indeed they have charged you for something you didn't receive and then clearly have good grounds for a refund - or if Travel Republic simply added your 'request' for the sea view, in which case it would purely be a request for that particular view and not a guarantee.
Booking receipt shows room type apt (2-5) seaview. There are only two types of apartments on this complex seaview and none seaview but when you go on travelrepublic they have more than two,so you could go for the cheapest or the dearest which we did at a difference of £140.
I was told that the difference was just different booking agents.
However if the booking description specifically mentioned a seaview then that's what I would expect to get. If the description didn't mention a seaview, and you just assumed the higher price meant you would get one, then you are not entitled to one.

No it deffinately was a seaview as we have booked for these apartments on five occassions in the last two years,it's just that this year s'algar hotels who own the rafalet have let the whole of the frontline apartments to a company called Palmair of Bournmouth for the whole of the summer. There are three further apartments with partial seaview(note very partial) and they were also taken.
You paid extra for something that is very specific and you didn't get it.
I'm not sure how you will go about getting it back though. The first thing you need to do is ask if they will refund it as you didnt receive it. In fact you have specialised knowledge that they were not even in a position to offer it as Palmair of Bournmouth had booked if for the whole season.
I suspect that they may refuse and then you will probably have to take it further.
Let us know how you get on ?
I think they have got a cheek. They probably think you wont bother persuing it because it's only 140 pounds and will involved, calls, letters etc but I definately would, it's a matter of principal.
Good Luck, Doe
I have found that Travel Republic are not alone in having different prices at the same accomodation, last year we booked with them in Tenerife in a hotel with several different grades we opted for the cheaper (B) pounds cheaper than the (A) but finished up in a room that could not be bettered which was definitely one of the (A) standard. Each February we stay at the same hotel in Mallorca and the internet bookers offer superior rooms at a premium we know from experience that the hotel does not use the standard rooms at that quiet time of the year and therefore we are given a superior standard room at basic price, but we could quite easily pay the higher rate if we were not aware of the situation.
Given that you have a letter from the apartment management that supports your claim about not receiving the sea-view apartment and that these apartments were not under contract to Travel Republic, I would suggest a polite but firm letter to Travel Republic to request a refund of the £140 supplement.
Yes I will let you know how we get on,I have just wrote a long letter to them but will have to wait till tomorrow to post it as i'am sending it recorded delivery so there is no denying that they haven't received it.It's not about the money it is the principal that matters, how many more people are going to get fobbed off with the back row.
We recieved acknowledgement of our letter of complaint and they are investigating the problem,so that was a quick response .We will have to see how long it takes for the outcome, will keep you posted.
Needless to say we won't use travelrepublic or medhotels again. From July Medhotels status as a principal changes to agent, meaning as a principal you are liable should things go wrong for which they have to pay insurance premium. An agent isn't resposible. So a word of warning when booking DIY check out who the supplier is.
At least they were quick at getting back to me.
Regards Maryb
Glad to hear they refunded you. Thanks for the update, it is appreciated.
I'd want the £140 refunded if that's what TR charged you and the hotel don't charge for sea views (that's suprising I must say)
