Good one Gemma - now you can have 1 or 2 or 6 honeybees.
I'm looking forward to the meet-ups hope lots of h/trs turn up.
Gemma, am loving reading your trip report. Can't wait for the next part. Am I right in thinking you are in Goa again in April? We are going out on 15th April.
Jannerlilly we fly out on 16 April. Maybe we will see you at one of the meets. Where are you staying?
The imported Chinese apples are not cheap - Rs50 for 3 in Calangute market. I have never been able to get them for less.
I asked at the shack how much these apples would cost at the market at Mapusa and nowhere in the region of 30 rupees per apple! I could have bought 2 in Tesco in the UK for cheaper!
Worth the wait for the installment, sounds like it was a very interesting day
We are now friendly with the ice cream boy as well he has nice mango and chocolate ice lollies and also fantastic butterscotch cornettos. Of course we always (normally) buy fruit from Mama but today ive decided I am a bit fed up with fruit and will give it a miss ...
We made our way back to the hotel about 6pm. Before that packed up the beach towels and headed to the shack about 5ish had a wee glass of wine, and a chat with the boys in the shack.
Tonight we are going to Kim Faa in Baga which is our favourtie Chinese restaurant. I cant believe we have been here 11 days and not been there yet, havent been to After 7 either yet .... just so many good restaurants to visit. Didnt go out til about 9 tonight and Kim Faa was full. We were asked to have a drink in the bar across the road and come back in 30 mins and our table would be ready. We ventured across to Aqua Bar for a honey bee. We weren't disappointed with Kim Faa, gorgeous as usual. Two starters and two main meals with drinks for 750 rupees. Left Kim Faa and a quick 2 minute walk and we were in KC Scottish Bar (still no Scottish folk ... ) A night cap in here and back to the hotel.
Friday 16 February - On our way to the beach today we stopped at All Spice and asked to book a table for about 8.30pm. Waiter says they dont take bookings for after 8pm as it is their busiest time and its first come first served. Maybe we would want to come very early or call after 10pm ... no thanks I dont think so. Maybe I have the wrong end of the stick here but I would think the best idea would be to take bookings for the busiest, peak times but they dont work that way at All Spice it is Goa after all
Another day at the Oceanic, nice and relaxing. the days are going so quickly now and you know in a few days you will be back in soggy Scotland never mind not long til April
Picked up some more clothes at Vell Laundry. Everything came back perfect. 10 items for 91 rupees, cant beat that.
Decided we would try Sublime at the Baga Bridge. I know its under new management but ive still read good things about it and its handy to reach from the hotel so we may as well give it a bash. We were not disappointed. After 7 aside, this is one of the best meals ive heard had in Goa. Its now English owned and the menu reflects that, but the choice is great with European and Indian dishes. We had chicken liver pate with salad and two slice of toast, yummy home made vegetable soup with crusty bread and two gorgeous fillet steaks with all the trimmings, soft and alcoholic drinks with water all for 1145 rupees. A bit more expensive but a fab meal and worth every penny. Wandered down to Baga Beach from Sublime. People who know this area will appreciate its about a 5 minute walk but its pitch black I dont know how many times I nearly fell and without the help of Mr G I would have done, and thats me with only a few honey bees Spent a couple of hours at the Oceanic, very busy with European and Inidian holidaymakers. The Indian people do like their karaokes another exhausting day over , time for some shut eye now.
Just wanted to say that I am sorry that we didn't get to meet up with you at the Mai Thai meet up the day you were going home . We had to go and put the children to bed for the night and have a few G&T's on the balcony!
I will try and put my trip report up over the weekend too, Can't believe that its al over so quickly!
(Will post more of my report over the weekend).
Hi Gemma. Brilliant trip report. I love reading them all! Our favourite Chinese is also Kim Faa. Havent tried sublime though. Will have to give it a go this time.
Yes Paul you should try Sublime. I am sure you wont be disappointed. I look forward to hearing what you think about it
Hi Gemma, we are staying at the Osborne. Hoping to get to one of the meets so maybe see you there. Where is the Oceanic shack? You obviously enjoy going there. Thinking of giving it a try.
I wont be able to put my trip report on until tomorrow or Monday now but will definitely do it! We ate at Sublime one night too and it was lovely! Great steak and mussels.
come on Gemma- stop skiving!
I know Fiona, sorry I was all for doing the final bit last night and you people dragged me into Goa Chat As they say in Goa 'maybe later' that means ive promised!
I am so annoyed, I have also just lost about an hours work by accidentally deleting it. This stupid laptop (it cant be my fault). Oh well.. I will just have to have a honeybee instead.....
BTW your earrings sound gorgeous!
Jackie
