Our flight was at 3pm on Sunday 4 Feb but some things had happened prior to leaving Glasgow ..... I had contact Children Walking Tall about an extra luggage allowance. This was no problem. They kindly contacted Monarch who gave us an extra 20kgs between the two of us. On Saturday 3 Feb we were flying from Glasgow to Gatwick with Easy Jet and staying the night at the Holiday Inn at Gatwick Airport. I contacted Easy Jet and under no circumstances would they allow us any extra allowance for our luggage. Miserable . I emailed them, phoned them, hassled them for days but a definite NO, unless we wanted to pay them of course I was so angry with them. So it was going to cost us £100 extra to get the kids clothes, shoes, toiletries down to London. Anyway we knew someone else who was flying to Gatwick the same day as us, also staying at the Holiday Inn, for onward travel to Cuba the same days as us. I contacted the Holiday Inn to see if they would accept a large package on our behalf, they readily agreed to this. So we sent 10kgs by DHL direct to the hotel and the other person very kindly took the other 10kgs in their case and we transferred it to a large holdall in the hotel. It only cost us £18.50 to courier the goods bu DHL to Gatwick from Glasgow.
Easy Jet said they would put a note on our booking that I had requested extra luggage allowance but it had not been granted. They obviously wanted to ensure our luggage wasnt overweight. The luggage wasnt overweight - I made sure of that.
We arrived at the Holiday Inn about 3ish. Our package had been delivered by DHL. The other holdall came down on a British Airways flight at 5.30, so we had all our items to take to Children Walking Tall.
We went up on the Gatwick Express to London for a few hours, had a nice meal, a look about the shops, then back to the hotel for about 10pm.
Next day we got to the airport. I was a bit concerned incase they didnt have a note of our extra allowance, but the check in staff at the Monarch desk were fabulous, said everything was on our booking, we checked all the luggage in hassle free. We also booked extra leg room, which was fabulous. So we were eventually on our way to wonderful Goa. The flight left half an hour late but landed in Goa half an hour early which was brill.
At Dabolim I couldnt believe it ..... at customs there was no queue and we were 2nd in the line waiting thats never happened to us (in Goa), not ever. So we cleared customs in about 5 minutes. Then it took about an hour to get the cases I knew it was too good to be true.
Rupesh, our taxi driver was waiting for us, so thats us on our way to the Marinha Dourada ...... more to follow later on tonight (these trip reports take a lot out of you )
