Anybody know if you can book any fishing trips from Potaras ? Two members of our group like to do some deep water fishing on holiday if possible.

Thanks

We are off back to Cyprus for half term week and one of the things we would like to do is a trip to Famagusta.

I think there is a whole and half day trip and we would probably do the half day.

Anyone been, its it worth going?

Thanks

Fishing trips can be booked at any of the tour offices in Protaras/Pernera. They cost around CY£25 for 4/5 hrs and include everything from bait to lunch!

You didn't say when you were going on holiday but Tuna season starts sometime in late June I believe and lasts a month to 6 weeks. Thats a great time to get out however, you must specify that you want Tuna fishing when you book.

Cheers

Hi Caz,

Just back from spending half term in Protaras. The boat trips have changed from last year. Most of the big boats are not allowed to go from the watersports this year. Much better for the beach as they are not pumping stuff into the water off the beach!
We always take boat trips around the coast. Last year and last week we went on the Raptor sea safari, can't stop saying how great it is. Its a bit more personal than the other boat trips as you are not crammed on like sardines and it goes further than the other trips. (Past Ayia Napa to Nissi beach), you get drinks and a snack, snorkelling gear and the pick you up from your hotel. Brilliant fun, my wife and children all loved it.
We used to use the Ayia Trias boats and although cheaper they are slow and often packed full and only go as far as Cape Greko. Infact I think we have been on most of the boats over the years!
The big boats from Ayia Napa all come round to the Protaras side and if you go to the harbour the PR people will be all over you. The better one of the large boats is the 'Captain Marko' for a day trip and the yellow submarine is great for the kids (make sure its not packed or rough if you go)
Have fun, can't wait to get back in the summer!

Hi I was in Protaras last week. Tuna season has just started although I didn't hear of anything being caught!

Re excursions I would recommend the Raptor sea safari mentioned earlier, the best boat trip we have ever been on! :D

We found the North is very interesting, visited Famagusta & Kyrenia a good day out.

Thanks Braveheart, the snorkelling one to Nissi Beach sounds fantastic. Was it an arranged tour or did you book it at a shop?! Was it very expensive?

Thanks for the links Misschief

Hi Caz, We booked it through a travel shop on the strip but remember him saying that he works with some Tour Operators. It cost £25 for adults and £15 for the kids with everything included. The kids still have the leaflets! I've had a look and the direct phone no. is 00357 96596938, the guy that runs it is English, think his name was Nick. We got collected at 9.30am and dropped off at 13.45 ish!

Hope it helps you!

Hi folks

We are returning to Pafos in about 6 weeks time for a 17 day break. It's our 5th visit and we always like to make sure that we get around while we're there and see new places and things.

We've done the following a number of times and no doubt we will have a look again:
The mosaics & various churches etc relating to St Paul in Pafos
The Tomb of the Kings
The Curium at Limassol (sp)
The Castle near Limassol
Troodos Mountains and the usual touristy spots there
Aphrodites Rock etc
Polis and someone's baths (have forgotten her name!)
A mini trip to Egypt
Numerous donkey sanctuaries!!

Can anyone give us any more ideas of places we can visit this time. We're open to any and all ideas - though visiting Nicosia doesn't really appeal much. We're hiring a car again for 3 days, but are quite happy to do some organised trips if need be. Don't mind getting lost in the mountains - have done that a number of times and met some very nice goats!!!!!!!!

Many thanks everyone

PS Is it safe to do a mini cruise to Israel yet does anyone know?

I would definitely do Nics village tour, it is really interesting and well worth it. Also maybe a visit to Lara Bay, if you have 4 x 4 you can drive yourself, otherwise go on an organised jeep safari, that takes in Latchi as well.
