And having had a long talk with your wife last week Jimmy I might be tempted to take you up on the offer. :cheers The only problem is that I really need some Tunisian sunshine and doubt I'd get that in Glasgow.

I know lots of people are having major problems with travel at present but I'm impressed by the number of companies who seem prepared to take the hit themselves and not pass it on to customers. If I can't get out on Saturday BA will re-book me or refund the cost of the flight, Alpha Rooms will cancel the hotel and refund or re-book clients (though we will have to pay any extra if prices have gone up), the Gatwick Flyer will hold transfers for 28 days and A2B transfers in Tunis will refund or re-book if we let them know. A friend out in Tunisia at present says all guests stranded at the hotel opposite her apartment are being provided with full board until they can get home.

At present it looks as if you have more chance of getting out than I do Jimmy, as flights from Scotland look more likely, at least until after the weekend. :que

Yippee!! It looks as if we'll both get off Jimmy. The BA flight took off on time today and though there doesn't appear to be much happening at airports in Scotland I'm sure everything will be up and running by the weekend. :hols

Just between ourselves, I have just booked flights for another couple of weeks in October but I know you won't tell on me. :rofl I always keep an eye on flight prices and booking a Thomas Cook flight through Thomson's website worked out considerably cheaper. Confirmation also says that hold luggage is included, whereas with Thomson's flights it is charged as an extra. I really struggled with my conscience as to whether to book for one week or two but my conscience lost!

Underneath the Arches
I dream my dreams away.
Underneath the arches,
On cobblestones I lay.
Ev'ry night you'll find me,
Tired out and worn.
Happy when the daylight comes creeping,
Heralding the dawn.

My daughter , son in law and 2 grandaughters should have been home from Tunisia a couple of days ago. Thomas Cook have been great (so far!). They were already booked on an all inclusive basis and have been allowed to keep their room/s in the hotel on that basis. They have no idea at all when they will fly back to Glasgow airport. Doesnt sound too bad to me, hotel on the beach. all inclusive and lovely sunshine!!! I know loads of people havent been so lucky.

Surprised that Thomson can offer a Thomas Cook flight "cheaply"... they cannot gain a discount from that operator to pass onto you.

I've booked 14 nights at the Royal Salem, Sousse, leaving 26th September, All Inclusive (because that is the way the Marhaba group have it with Thomas Cook & Thomson), for just £498. That is only £45 pound more than last year's Half Board deal.

With all your seperate bits.... Air fares, Hotel(whatever board basis you take) plus transfers I would be surprised if you save on that...

Cheers
Anthony

PS Just tried Thomson site... flights Oct10th - cheapest -£145
Hotel Royal Salem - £204 for B&B ony
So £350 before anything else...

Surprised or not Anthony, on the TC website the same flight is £207.50 (+ presumably the credit card charge) whereas through the Thomson site it was a total of £153.71. As it's the same flight the 'extras' will be the same, as it will cost me nothing to get to and from Stansted on a Sunday and I am quite good at 'negotiating' with taxi drivers in Sousse. I e-mailed Thomsons earlier as they now fly from Stansted to Monastir on Wednesdays and on their website there is the facility to add luggage if booking one of their flights but nothing mentioned for TC. They replied "The facility to add hold luggage at £10 is shown for the Thomson Airways flights (each way but they didn't say this in their e-mail) as flight-only bookings with Thomson do not include hold baggage and this can be added at a further cost. Our contract with Thomas Cook includes baggage for passengers that book through us on that flight, so the option is removed for convenience." I haven't booked a package holiday to Tunisia for years now as I know the place quite well and prefer to put it together myself.

I'm so glad your family have been well looked after Morh and although they probably need to get back home I can't feel too sorry for them. A friend was hoping her flight back to Sweden this Sunday was going to be delayed as she has her own apartment and would be more than happy for a few more weeks in the sun. She was saying that all the delayed guests in the Kaiser were being given full board and allowed to stay on.

Jimmy, I'll try not to be late so you won't have to drift off into the land of dreams. Speak to you soon.

Great news, and no problems with BA either, I'm just waiting for 13.35 which is the earliest I can check in on line. Hope you have a good flight. Text me your room number when you have it and I'll give you a ring about 1800. I have your hotel number as 73 246444 and Royal Beach is 73 210491 but I've got your mobile as well. :fly
