You should take along the failed delivery slip and your passport in person, but as it looks like you are unable to do that, then you can contact the correos in question to ask for help and advice via their English language website HERE.

Some more of our friends who are in the UK at the moment are going home to Spain on Monday and have said they will travel to Quesada to pick it up for us if we can find out what I.D they will need from us, along with the failed delivery slip.

Perhaps you will need a covering letter stating that you authorise Mr or Mrs X to collect on your behalf as they may not hand it over if the name of the person collecting is different.

A covering letter would really mean nothing Luci, as it could have been written by anyone.

Individual Post Offices seem to make their own rules as they want, but I can't see much hope for anyone but the intended recipient (carrying photographic ID) being able to collect the letter.

On a happier note, Spanish bureaucracy would probably mean that it would be sent out again (and again!!!) until it was delivered, and courts over here are not in too much of a hurry to do anything very much anyway.

Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about it. People here are well aware that lots of homes are vacant for a good part of the year, and the authorities often make allowances for that fact.

Thanks, we did wonder what would happen to it if we didnt collect it in the 15 days.
As long as it keeps getting sent out we will eventually get it (probably October-lol).
We will give it a try with our friends and see what happens.
