using my mobile in algarve.

whilst in armacoa de pera i found it difficult to ring local numbers on my mobile phone.
i was probably doing something wrong.
is there anything special i need to do when dialling a local number from my mobile?
any help would be apprieciated

You have to dial as if you are in the UK, even though your in Portugal.
So the full country code etc.

I have used my phone abroad for many years all i do is dial the local number BUT the phone must be international enabled i use T-mobile

I dont have to put the country code 00351 into my mobile, it throws the area code up on my screen, maybe this is due to it being a triband phone, not sure, as my previous phone was only dual band and I had to put the country code in. Can anyone tell me if this is because its a triband phone Cheers Jayjan.

You also have to make sure its unbarred with your provider of course.

Best thing to do is buy a cheapo (50 Euros) payg Portuguese mobile. We got badly ripped off by TMobile when using a UK phone in Portugal.

But just remember if you buy a Portuguese mobile dont use it to ring U.K. or it will cost you an arm and a leg, just use it for local calls. Cheers Jayjan
