So that may help you to prove to Virgin that they have indeed sold you a "Package".
As regards the new deal that you require, fwh has suggested the perfect solution, look at cancelling and rebooking in order to save money. Get the sequence right though or you might loose everything
As regards your intentions, quite clearly you want a better deal than you already have - nothing wrong with that. kmba is amazed - well how amazed would you be kmba if Virgin cancelled pinkladywales's "package" a couple of weeks before departure due to lack of sales ? They're legally permitted to do just that - and many T.O.'s do. It works both ways you know - if you can manipulate a better deal for yourself you'd be daft not to.
As regards Virgin's customer service - don't be overawed. In my personal experience it was pretty shoddy 6 years ago when I last flew with Virgin - that's why I haven't flown with them again since.
The following has ben extracted from "package" means the pre-arranged combination of at least two of the following components when sold or offered for sale at an inclusive price and when the service covers a period of more than twenty-four hours or includes overnight accommodation:-
(a) transport;
(b) accommodation;
(c) other tourist services not ancillary to transport or accommodation and accounting for a significant proportion of the package,
and
(i) the submission of separate accounts for different components shall not cause the arrangements to be other than a package;
(ii) the fact that a combination is arranged at the request of the consumer and in accordance with his specific instructions (whether modified or not) shall not of itself cause it to be treated as other than pre-arranged;
So that may help you to prove to Virgin that they have indeed sold you a "Package".

I am entitled to be amazed if i want to.
just the same as you are entitled to your long winded views
Guilty as charged kmba. Sorry, I can sometimes go on.
First I want to thank everyone for all their great advice and optimism!!
I think I got unlucky with the advisors I called on Saturday. I had decided to cut my losses. But on the spur of the moment decision, I tried to call one last time, after all, you don't ask you don't get...
I was put through to a very nice and helpful advisor, who listened to my query then put me hold to check if he could do it for me. I waited. He came back and said he was going to put FREE DISNEY DINING PLAN on for me, and which tickets would I like to buy (this is part of the deal)!!!! I chose 2 Ultimate 14 Day Tickets @ £189 each (this was £25 dearer than I'd seen but hey, I was getting free dining!), I told him this was fine - he then went on to say, since I was a Frequent Virgin, I would get 10% off the tickets!!
He didn't charge me an amendment fee, nor did I have to re-book and cancel! I don't think this is something Virgin do very often, but I was extremely pleased at the way they handled it today!!
That's excellent news, and a big pat on the back to Virgin!!! Isn't it nice when there is something good to report
excellent news pinklady im so pleased for you. i was getting worried as we hadnt heard from you for a couple of days.
Alls well that ends well, a result & a pat on the back for Virgins !!
I followed your posts in the America forum and know you have put alot of effort into planning this holiday so I'm glad its worked out for you.
I'm also a 'frequent Virgin'! I feel that they should have made even more effort to accommodate you, as you have been loyal to them, and they aren't the cheapest.
Also we have all learn't not to bother with their weekend/BH call center and call during the week.
I've been wanting to jump in on this thread a couple of times, even wrote a spiel then deleted it... I did this because I don't live in the UK and so it wasn't relevant) However, I could never see the problem as I have changed my bookings a few times... once changed the destination country which earned me the reputation of Mrs Hemorrhoids but they did it. It was through the same tour operator and all they did was transfer my new booking and deposit to a different pigeon hole and adjust the price.
Well done....
Well Done. Don't eat too much at Disney!
Great news! Dead chuffed for you - just have a FAB holiday and as Traveller says - don't eat too much
Good for you. We have had both good and bad experiences with Virgin. We had a similar situation where the day after I'd booked car rental the price went down £200, I thought it was worth a call and they obliged and changed my booking! A bit cheeky but worth a phonecall!
Also thanks for the support from everyone and especially doepsmc - I have put a lot of thinking and planning into the holiday... we never could afford to go to WDW when I was little and it's always been a dream of mine to go. Now I'll be 21 when I finally go - and I know this has just put the icing on the cake for us to have a fabulous holiday - this will definately be the holiday of a lifetime now and we won't have to worry about spending money.... I really am grateful to Virgin and give them a massive thumbs up for customer service WELL DONE VIRGIN!!
I'll see you guys soon, I'm off on my holidays tomorrow! Not Orlando, but Majorca!!
Nice to see a happy ending! Enjoy Orlando - and Majorca
Have a brilliant time.
