I'm off to Goa Saturday and I havent got my tourist visa yet as my 6 yr old son is not well, The plan is to go tomorrow morning at Birmingham very early.
Has anybody recently been to Birmingham to get their visas and
what difficulties might I encounter.
Fiona could this thread be left for a few hours before being designated to the proper visa thread if possible.
Steve you be ok as Fiona is in India.
All I can say is
with the things the way they are at the moment with the Visa's I think you would be very very lucky to get one by Saturday. Have you rang Birmingham and explained the situ to them?
Good luck mate, I hope you get to Goa

They may be doing the same as other embassies, and giving you a ticket to come back on another day. As they are issuing only 50 visa's a day, I would get there very, very, early, and start the queue, if I was you, you have indeed left it late, I hope that you get the visa's OK, But I would be worrying if it was me.

Thanks Elliebee & Tomitma
I have rang the Emergency visa helpline and they said if I was early enough and have my plane tickets stating the date of the flight I would be 99% guaranteed, but my luck of late the 1% would apply to me. Watch this space!

Good Luck Steve!!! Let us now how you get on.
Good luck Steve, after that stress your going to need to get on that plane!
Thanks for the support H'Ters
I arrived at 5.30am and by 6.0am there were about 80-100 people in the queue. I was given a ticket when they opened, I was 41st in the queue and managed to get my visas. They allowed everyone else who were travelling to India within 7 days visas. They said several times that 50 tickets had been allocated and no more were allowed, but a few people over the number 50 still got visas.
So in 48 hours I fly.

Thats great news Steve, have a fantastic time. Hope your little boy is keeping much better now.
Good news mate have a great time.
Have to get my visa soon, travelling on Dec 17th, has anyone used the Edinburgh office recently as its always been easy to get a visa in the past there but not sure if it has been effected by all this recent visa nonsense.

If you look on the main thread, I think it was Gamps who had an unpleasant day out.You should be ok, if you are from Scotland, but no English allowed.
Datsun I believe the official Indian Consulate website for Edinburgh now states residents of Scotland only.
Great news Steve, have a good time.
Me and you both Datsun, well the 100% Scottish bit anyway!!!!!
Going for our Visas next Friday
