Any one been way up north to the beaches past the chapora river.
Going to pop up to Arambol in march and check out the place.
Any one know of good digs in the area for an overnight stop?
Did see a report in Guardian newspaper listing Arambol as the 6th best beach in WORLD.
Could it be THAT good
What about Morjim and Mandrem ?
Taxi

You'll be disappointed then.
Taxi !
Go on Max , elaborate a little
It's not bad at all - it's just that, it's not even in the top ten in my opinion.
Arambul beach was ok, but nothing special that I would want to rush back.
Only way to find out tho is to go visit for yourself Taxi
i think the beaches in the south are far nicer arrossim is a nice peaceful walking place but hey just my opinion dont shoot me if aint your cup of tea.
This is the view from Querem Beach across to Fort Tiracol - it's nice up here.
Its not amazing but the trip to it on the bikes is worth it alone!
Check it all out VERY soon now
As you move back south towards Mandrem, the beach gradually becomes less populated and eventually, the visitor finds him-self alone, with just the sound of the surf breaking on the sand and the breeze rustling the coconut palms.
So with the above in mind a cheeky 8km saunter back down the the beach from Arambol to Chapora sounds appealing to say the least.
Have to tell the O/H its just 4 km and and listed as one of the top ten surf paddles in the world [according to the guardian]
Querim (keri) beach is very nice. Only a handful of shacks and the drive up is quite breathtaking
Arambol as a beach .... OK but doesn't match anything in the South.... overrated... Kerim is better by far.
Seems to bode well with folks.
Will Check it out as its fairly near Arambol
Just out off interest anyone poked there toes over into maharashtra
Can you cross over at the fort itself ?
Taxi
Run a forum search on Querim

Went to querim beach & were the only ones there, nice but a bit lonely and lacking in atmosphere & shacks etc, there is a ferry at the end of the beach across to Maharastra & the fort
Mids
Maybe you can but if you go up the NH17 (mumbai) highway you at Pernem. I got a driver to take me to Vengurla about 15 miles up the coast..... amazing do a searchon Wikipedia. You forget that there is a massive coast of beaches right up to Mumbai that is not developed whatsoever.
Reddi Beach is the one beyond Tiracol across the border into Maharashtra - sometimes known as Paradise Beach.
GFF xx
Pretty interesting reading the forum in depth that a lot of ht'ers are dislutioned
to say the least in the direction that goa seems to being heading.
Distant memories of how the holidays used to be before tourism became too firmly establshed.
ThereR issues that leave a lot to be desired regarding infastructre
Without getting too heavy goa an be anything you want it to be
I f you need quality restraunts and entertainment then the baga candolim tourist belt awaits with open arms.
If you want relaxation and deserted beaches then as this thread has shownthere are some wonderful beaches and places to visit up north
if its wildlife and eco system then enough to fill your boots on the inland waterways.
I have enough info now thnks to all the members contributions to spend a good few days exploring way up north and all it has to offer
Still love the baga calungute candolim holiday strip though
Wouldnt be the same place without it
Pie and mash or exellent local goan cuisine
fishnchips or lobster on toast
It all about what rocks your boat
Hppy holidays
There are still places you will love , just get out there north or south, and you can still find what you are looking for
Reddi Beach, wonderful, relaxing, unspoilt and a string of other adjectives.
But, already on the south end of the beach, the pegs marking land bought by the Leela Group are in place.
My avatar is taken from there and often pack a few bits and pieces and camp out for a night when in Goa.
If you do make your own way here, there is a chance, because you are venturing into Maharashtra, that you may be questioned at the police/excise post. No problem if you're in a tourist taxi, but if on Goa plates on bike it can raise an eyebrow. Just explain that you are visiting the beach, all should be OK.
