I don't care about food or entertainment in a hotel as we always eat out for dinner and we never spend our evenings there. If it's B&B a good breakfast is nice, but not essential - we will go out for that too if needs be.
Proximity to the nearest beach/town is important to us. As is cleanliness.
We prefer smaller hotels as in our experience the thing that can spoil a holiday is other people - so the fewer there are of those the better!
This is why we generally book a villa for Turkey, which we keep revisiting. We do stay in hotels if we are going somewhere new though.
General cleanliness (particularly the bathroom) and location are equally important.
i like it to be clean and a really nice view also close to everything
A Balcony or terrace is a must, always look and check reviews about the pool and surroundings, hate the thought of fighting for a sunbed, then there only being 6" between each sunbed.
If accomodation near beach will always ask for a sea view, why would you not if you were so close to the beach

Have a good choice of british style food and have a good enterianment programme.
We always do liveaboards with Blue 02..and they have an excellent reputation. To go with anyone else, we would have to consider the spec on the boat, cabin space, compressors, fills, space on the dive deck, medical facilities and most of all the dive itinery.
Forgot to say that my requirements for a short break would be different. Apart from the obvious location, I'd be looking at a decent size room with a tea tray - just love that first cuppa of the day, while watching the news
The main one for me is size of the hotel. I would hate to be in a massive complex with 5 pools as I'd know there would be masses of people and be too busy. I tend to go for small to medium size hotels in one block which have a bit of entertainment etc.
Good pool area and must have soft style sunbeds or mats on the beds. Within 10-15 minute walk of both the beach and town/village with plenty of restaurants and bars but not right in the middle of the noise.
location is important too, like to be within walking distance for everything, but not too close that a reet good nights sleep is lacking !
thats about it really, not too fussy !
