Limassol or Paphos are the best places to go to in the winter. They are both towns, Limassol being a much larger place, and therefore have other things to offer if the weather is not good e.g.theatres, cinemas and big shops. Daytime temps. at the moment are around 21c. It is lovely to sit out in the sun during the day, but not warm enough for swimming or being on the beach. Nights are cooler.
A lovely time of year for sightseeing though and there is plenty to see if you like exploring the villages and mountains.

I live in Erimi, which is to the west of Limassol on the way to Paphos.

Yesterday we had SNOW, followed by rain, high winds and then the sun came out. Today its been sunny and mild, temperature 20 deg.

Winter weather's a bit unpredictable!

Cheers,

Cyprus weather can be unpredictable....as per last post! We went in Jan 2001 to Paphos and had beautiful sunny weather around 20C....we then went to Limassol in Feb 2002 and had 3.5 days of storms although it was still warmer than the UK! My friend u2fan went to Paphos in October last year and only had 1.5 days of sunshine and the worst storms for a good many years!
Having said all that, we are chancing it ourselves and having a week in Paphos in March as we didn't want to go to Spain and the Canaries! :)

we were in Pafos the back end of last month we had verry unseasonal weather a week of wall to wall sunshine 20/22 deg cool in the evening, i even stood up to my nether regions in the sea fishing and found the water quite warm much to the amusement of a couple of locals in full winter gear

only 3 times... not enough to get to know the island and her people..for information and advice on living on the island the best suggestion i have is you take a look at the Cyprus living web site it is run by some of our resident members and very helpfully you will find them too

thanks for your help i am looking all the time at this site for any information that i can gather, my main concern is as there is no social serices for ex -pats? then, if you were unable to look after yourself, you would be on your own,and who would help you? so is it wise to sell up in the uk, and take a chance ? that's is what i canot find out from anyone who has done this yet and how they have got on.

This is true you would be on your own, but there are thousands of us ex-pats out here in fact Paphos alone has 19.000 of us, many are older and manage very well, you will be covered once you reach UK retirement age for any health problems, and none of us ex-pats would not help if we could.

I find your comments a little strange that you cant find anyone on ''CyprusLiving'' that is not on there own, have you joined the forum and asked? I know of at least 100 members who live here happily on the own, and join in on our members get-togethers, that we have often.

In life you take many chances and when that last bell tolls would you like to say to yourself ''if only'' ?

The decision we made to come and live here , (I may add on a very tight budget) was the best decision I have ever made.. I was then 54 years of age, that was over five years ago..and a lot of Keo's  I am far from rich, I live very modestly but rich in the quality of life in Cyprus.

My advice just do it!! life is just too short!
