I am really bad I have a list wrote well in advance but pack really late, if we have an early morn flight I start packing late at night and we usually stay up all night, I have been known to be at asda or tesco at 1.30am in the morning buying socks or other stuff when we are flying at 7 ish and been picked up at 4am, we always manage it though. Some of us just do better under stress , My other half panicks, I just say go away and let me get on with it. Then we relax a few hours, wake kids up etc then get in the minibus.
Like some of you say I do have a bad habit of over checking everything!, and im always picking the cases up to guess how heavy they are , then at the airport i insist on putting the heaviest on first in case we go over to split cases, but luckily we are always under. I might try being a bit more organized this year and pack a bit sooner! I dont like stuff lying in a case getting creased up though, I certainly dont want to be ironing on holiday!
The stuff that goes every year more or less stays in the case unless it needs washing.
I usually pack the day before we go. The sorting out of what's being taken usually starts about 5-7 days before.
I decided I just need some sun creams and a couple of books , plus a couple of smart tops so not a big deal.
I used to pack about a month in advance but I'm more chilled now. I start the week before we go. I have a holiday list on the computer for the useual stuff which i print off and tick off each item as it goes in. I alsso make a list of clothes, shoes, bags and jewellery and put them down as outfits for each day which also gets printed and ticked off when they go in. I print another copy off and take it with me so i know what day i'm wearing what outfit. Do the same for the bairn too. God that sounds so sad when I read it back
20 weeks to go for me, and I have just started packing today
I fly out to Palma in Majorca a week on Monday. And haven't even thought about getting the case out, never mind sorting out the clothes. The only things I've bought so far is some toiletries and that's it. I usually think about packing about 3-4 days before I'm due to fly out to where ever I'm going to
With just 5 hours to go until our taxi picks collects us from home to take us to Heathrow Airport I have list of tasks to get through in the mean time.
"just in case" clothes??
Yes but who packs far too much stuff and dont wear half of the
In exactly 5 weeks from now, we should just be landing at Tenerife! Sometime this weekend I plan to get all my clothes out and have a "try-on". Due to reduced financial circumstances (just started a new job - long story) I am determined not to buy any new clothes for this holiday - I got loads of stuff last summer which I hardly wore. So, once I've decided which clothes I'm taking, I'll make a list of everything and probably start packing the weekend before we go, as I'm no longer a "lady of leisure" and unable to spend all day packing the day before like I used to. I think I'll try and help myself a bit more by packing all the toiletries in the next couple of weeks, then that's one less bag to worry about! No doubt I'll have problems persuading teenage daughter to decide what she wants to take, she's very much a "last-minute" person.
I'm going to Majorca tomorrow morning. OH has just fetched the case up from the cellar so we will start packing as soon as I finish on here.

Ummm Thats me Im afraid....
I don't pack my hubby does
Well I'm off to Torremolinos in 5 weeks (how many times I've said that on this forum?) and yesterday I got out and tried on loads of clothes to see what I was going to take. Now the deed's been done and the list's been made so I'm happy. Even decided what shoes and jewellery I'm taking. I'll probably sort through hubby's clothes next weekend in case he'll need a few new things. I'll pack the toiletries with about 10 days to go and then the case/cases will be ready (just waiting to be zipped closed) about 2 days before. I don't know how I'm going to cope with the packing this time as we're away for a weekend a few days before we're due to fly.
A few years ago we went to Majorca in may ( very hot) and I forgot to pack hubby any shorts!! He did see the funny side eventuallY!lol!!
I tend to get my toiletries packed quite early - i find this task takes ages as I take so many different ones and everything gets dicanted into small travel-sized bottles. So I do that about 2 or 3 weeks before. About a month before I'll get my summer clothes down from the loft to check what I have and what still fits then make a list of anything new that I have to buy. Once all my outfits are sorted (which skirt can be paired with which tops etc) I hang everything in the spare room and then pack about 2 days before. Any sooner and I find myself getting into that whole packing, unpacking and then packing again syndrome just to make sure I have everything I need!
Off to Tunisia on Sunday morning - 2 a.m. taxi. I would normally pack Saturday night but as my scales are playing up and I only have 15 kg luggage with Thomsa Cook my dauighter-in-law is bringing hers cales round for me to check the weight of my case sometime that evening so I'll have to do it a bit earlier.
So, in answer to the question we hope to be fully packed (and sealed!!!) about 5 days before we go or I'll still be trying to shove stuff in 'just in case'
I make sure everything is washed and Ironed a few days before we go ...then packed it in the case the night before we are due to go!
Is it a bit early to get mine out the loft, hubby thinks it way too early.
When does everyone else get theirs out?
Thanks,
Emma
