I think I prefer haggling by email at leisure compared to face to face.
Re the haggling mentioned above, there is no point emailing a (quality) jeweller and asking for their BEST price for a watch or any other item of jewellery. They will just quote you the ticket price, even if you say you are going to buy......................or they will quote you a discount, but it will be nowhere near what they can actually give...........after all you could be anyone...........even another jeweller trying to suss them out. From experience, if you go in and talk to them face to face, and they know you are serious about buying the item, they will be willing to negotiate!
Even high class jewellers who dont use the word "haggle" will be willing to discuss a sensible discount with you, as is borne out by Peters experience, quoted below.
He wanted 450 Euros but he settled for 400.
Even the ticket prices in most jewellers in PDLA are significatly cheaper for Cartier/Tag/Omega/Rolex/Ebel/Gucci than the ticket prices at home, so even if you dont get discount on either..................you are still making a big saving.
