No, i think all ports of call would be easy to do your own thing.
(most had taxi etc close by
and if part of a bigger group will certainly be cost effective)
and we certainly would if we go again
i am not sure if the more erm ......... adventurous tours could be done independently
the rainforest hike etc ?
but we didnt do those anyway haha

Thanks Rachie B for quick reply. I have been on the Destiny in 2007 did a med cruise for two weeks. 4 of us in the one cabin a real tight squeeze as our twin boys were 16 at the time. I did think then that the area near the buffet with tables on both sides was a bit run down and was hoping that maybe it had been upgraded before the ship went to the caribbean. Still had a fantastic time and hoping for the same this time.
ours are 12 and 6 so not to bad .... yet!
i have been looking at a med one for summer hols one yr
,but the ports of call seem to be city based? which i would love ! but hubby and sons prefer beach / water sports etc!

Im going on the Thomson Destiny Coral islands on the 15 march .
I have a very busy 1 year old and was wondering if there was things for him to do so hes not running wild around the place.
Also are the drinks expensive (soft and alcoholic) or should i take juice for Tobey (1yr old).
Thanks..

most children onboard were 3+ ,we did meet a few 2 yr olds but that was it
also the pool is cold salt water (filtered) , so not really suitable either ?
Fruit juice is £1.25
bottles water 90p
I also wonder what you will do when in port ? and need to take a taxi to the beach etc ? As i don't think the taxis have / had carseats
thanks for reply,
They have a wading pool for kids dont they...I know they wont take him in the kids zone but i think we can go in with him to let him have a play (well i hope we can)..
( we didnt use the pool much TBH,preferred to wait for the beaches )
your 1 yr old might be ok in the pool, if not many other children onboard to splash him !
we were on during half term, so prob more kids than during term time
didn't read anything about being allowed to go in the Kidzone with your small child
as they run sessions,so not sure how that would work TBH
and theres nothing really suitable in it for a 1 yr old anyway
i said to hubby it was lacking some sort of free play area for littlies

We will prob wait to go to the beaches. I dont suppose we will be on board very much in the day .
I think im getting confused with the ocian village ship cos we looked at that aswell, oh well ill just have to get him some new toys to play with on board
You would need to check the pool policy onboard as I seem to recall that children were not allowed in the pool until they were toilet trained on some ships.
luci
it can get very hot though so def take a UV suit & hat for him, and hire a parasol / sun bed
we used to go offboard for half a day usually, then return in time for afternoon tea in the Lido
mmmmscones and cake and cookies ( no wonder i put on half a stone during the week!)
Having been ,I don't think i would take an under 4 on the cruise to be honest, the long flight, lack of things for them to do ,hot weather etc
Hope he will be ok, and it's not too stressful for you
xx
We are doing a cruise and stay so the week at the hotel will be my relaxing week ..( i hope)...
Hes not a winey child so hopefully he wont annoy 2 many people.(if hes bored)..lol
thanks 4 all the info..
Have been speaking to one of the Mums @ school this morning, and sounds like ocean village is definitely better for families / kids
as they have nursery from 6 months
plus facilities for older ones ( til midnight for teens ! lol)
whereas Destiny kidzone is only age 3 - 12 years
Going to look online for prices !
xx
We went to book on ocian village but they didnt have rooms left in any of the hotels,
sure you will
Hi
I cant remember offhand, but the shop is pretty pants
Thanks so much
Do you have a Boots in your airport after passport control. They should sell them and after that I am sure you could buy them at various ports. Good Luck.
