Hi all
We're going to majorca (sa coma) on 9th Sept - 16th Sept. We chose this time cos we wanted to wait till after school holidays and we've got a 2yr old so didn't want it scorching BUT now I'm really worried that I've bought all this sun cream and sun tops and bikinis and it's not going to be hot enough to sunbathe, play in sea/pool.
I've looked at the weather reports and it says it's 77degrees average in Sept. I'm a bit rubbish though, is that hot enough to sunbath and for toddler to run around wet and not shivery or is it like a nice spring day over here.
Help - I really want a tan and to just play in the sun all day!
Two year old loved it in pool and sea. We gave her short bursts at a time cos pools are quite cold unless heated, plus at that age they just standing there or bouncing around in your arms.
We bought a towelling poncho, placed that over her head when she came out of pool, placed her on sunbed with bag of lego till she warmed up again.
She loved it!
We're going out this year on 16th. Can't wait! If you read some of the reports from this year August was not so good, so i think it's luck of the draw! Been told south of the island better than north but hey who knows!
Some friends flew out today to Callas de Mallorca, cloudy this morning but nice and hot by the pool this afternoon.
You'll probably need a cardi for the night time.
Hope you have fab weather and a fab time!
Claroj-Weather forecasts are never right, one side of the island it could be raining and other sunny. I was in Sa Coma mid Sept last year weather was good needed sun cream. A liitle shower one day,a little cloud another and the day we came home torrential rain for 2 hrs then sun out again. Enjoy whatever you get , remember you can still burn under the cloud (I learnt that lesson a few years ago and never again) Make sure you go on the open top bus and see the new harbour at Cala Bona. Have lovely time.
What's to worry about ? We go every Sept and the weather is always lovely. Average high 20's C daytime, high teens at night. Use lots of cream as you will get burnt if you don't. Sea is perfect for swimming and it's not so hot that you can't walk around comfortably. Expect at least 1 or 2 days in 14 to have rain showers for a few hours. Other than that...great, enjoy.
BUT
it was still well warm enough to be out, at poolside or at the beach, on overcast days we just went to beach as pool was too cold, we were still in sun tops, comfortable to walk around during day, comfortable to sleep at night (with fans on) and we still got a decent sun tan so make sure even if it's cloudy that you get creamed up - a mistake so many holidaymakers make and end up well sunburnt.
I reckon you'll be fine - the weather certainly didn't affect us too much - we had planned to do another boat trip but the sea was too choppy but other than that we did everything we normally do.
Have a FAB time!
Tis x
I too was worrying about the weather but hey it's gotta be better than in the UK. And as we always say when we're on holiday it's not rain it's liquid sunshine.
We fly out on saturday to Cala Millor for two glofious weeks and I can't wait.
Cheers
Vicky
It is hot and the sun does burn. Please use the sun creams.
It is likely to be similar weather when you come over. We are getting small amounts of cloud but these are quite welcome.
Evenings are still very warm at present (I think it went down to about 21 degrees by midnight last night) and I am still in shorts and a T-shirt each evening.
Enjoy!!
It will be plenty hot enough for sunbathing as the average maximum temperature in Palma for September is only a few degrees less than July and August at about 26 celsius so don't worry on that score.
Hi all. Might be a bit off topic, but don't wish for the weather we had in Greece a couple of weeks ago - 44 degrees :omg. Too hot to do anything. In the evening, eating out a chore and as for sleeping, well thank heavens for air conditioning.
Had similar heatwave temperatures for the first 5 days of our summer holiday in the Algarve a couple of years ago and it was almost unbearable. Personally, anywhere between the low to mid 20's celsius is my idea of the perfect temperature.
I've got my fingers crossed for sun bathing weather from the 18th onwards, 10 nights in alcudia, if its not warm enough to lounge on the beach i hope its nice enough to walk along the gorgeous beach of alcudia in just my bikini and sarong!!!
Off to Santa Ponsa tomorrow!! Will try and put a post on about the weather for those lucky people going after me. CBG
We go to playa de muro 12th-26.Do we need jackets for night time?
Beaches are gorgeous, have a great time.
http://uk.weather.com/weather/local/SPXX0061?x=13&post=post&code=code&y=13 everyday is forecast for thunderstorms, think I better pack my brolly!
We fly out to Magaluf on Sunday, I've just looked at this website for the weather
Today has started a little overcast here in Magaluf area. Temp about 27 degrees at 10.45. Doesn't feel like any rain in the air.
We fly out the 16th and have been watching the long range weather forecast!
All I can say is that it does say scattered and isolated thunderstorms - which is better than heavy thunderstorms!
I was watching this last week as we have friends currently in Callas De Mallorca - it forecast that this week there would be thunderstorms Thursday, Friday and Saturday - that's now changed and they have glorious sun!
Think it depends on what part of the island your on too - last year we was in Alcudia and had rain for couple of days - at airport spoke to people who were in the south and had'nt seen a drop of rain all week!!!
Let's just hope the forecast is wrong, but yes, think we'll take brolly too, just in case!
Have fab holiday anyway whatever the weather
Relax. It's always hot and sunny in September and most of the time in October, so much so that the odd cloudy day is generally welcomed! Yes, we do have rain but rarely at this time of year and then only in short bursts. I'm usually still in T shirt and shorts at the end of November but this year has been less predictable than usual. Please do not forget you sun block!
Hi all, my friend is in Palma Nova at this moment & she has just text me saying she's been laying round the pool & it's very very hot. Even the evenings are warm enough not to take a cardi with you. We are off out to meet her this sat, I am so looking forward to it too. We usually go this time of year & it has never been bad weather, maybe a cloudy day & a bit of rain, but, nothing more than that. Have fun all of you others that are going soon.
Hi Debdon, just had my mom on the phone from Magaluf, she said exactly the same, we are flying out on Sunday to meet up with them. Lets hope it stays that way for our week
