You need to "shop around" for the best deals. Try Thomas Cook, Kuoni, Premier holidays etc. Remember, you don't have to go with their packages, you can ask them to tailor make it for you. Also try costing it out with flights and accomodation separately Try Expedia for flights. Then try the airline directly. You will need to know what you want to do first of course ie destination(s) and type of accomodation. What are time of year when you thinking of going and what are you looking for from your holiday? Thailand will have what you are looking for :)

Out of interest what do people on here pay for 2 weeks in Thailand?
We've just booked 2 weeks in May independently, we've booked 3 3* hotels staying in Bangkok, Samui and Koh Phangan, including the flight, train, ferries etc down South it all comes to £709 each. Not sure if that's a really good deal or not as we didnt get the cheapest of flights as we were restricted on times, but considering we got destinations to suit us we're happy with it :)

That sounds good to me Bunny,(try pricing the same up with Kuoni) - but it all depends on what time of year you travel, what class of hotel etc. you can pay £10 for a hotel or £200 plus per night for hotels in Thailand. Also air fares do tend to fluctuate.

Approx cost of my recent holiday, per person.

BA/Qantas return - LHR to HK, BKK to LHR. £ 404.00 (cattle class)
EMIRATES one way - HK to BKK £75.00
AIR ASIA return - BKK to Krabi, £70.00

Hong Kong Hotel 4 star, harbour view room £ 225.00 ( 4 nights)
Krabi hotel, 4 star £ 300.00 (7 nights)
Bangkok hotel, 5 star, £120.00 (2 nights)

Transfers £ 30

So approximately £ 1200.00 each for 2 weeks

Obviously could have been done cheaper if we were less fussy but for a first time visit to Thailand we decided we needed some home comforts !! :D

That's ruddy excellent as i'm presuming you're including tax - which would normally be around £200!

Simple truth is that everything listed above is an excellent deal as Thailand in general offers excellent value, especially when you compare to Thailand. A little extra for upgraded hotels goes a lot further, so spend what you can afford as very few other countries have such great value 4/5 * hotels.

My first trip to Thailand (1994?) I budgetted $US10 a day for accommodation, food, travel, beers, and averaged about $7 a day over 2 months (that's in my own rooms and not sharing - but limited beers!).

I know people who have just spent £8,000 on a weeks holiday in Phuket. However, knowing where they are staying (and the fact they are flying Business Class) I would also categorise this as excellent value (just out of my price range!).

I booked through Qantas, the exact same flights booked through BA worked out at £540.00.

Believe me I had to check and recheck it before I believed it.

Wow. Qantas & BA share flights / revenue on these flights (and Singapore and OZ) so fares are almost always identical between the airline, and I don't remember in the last couple of years Qantas being so cheap. I'm guessing you got a mis-price. Either way, well done!

Hi Kells343

Dont know if you are sorted for your holiday yet but we booked Thailand with an online travel co. called Best at Travel and they were brilliant and very competitive with the price in fact when we rang round several other companies they told us to go with best at travel as they couldnt get it any cheaper let alone match it. Barry is the Thailand guy there - brilliant.
