I just wear a normal cap to keep the sun off my head and face when sunbathing and walking about

juby - I can't believe a year has gone since you were telling us about that cowboy hat. I sometimes wear a bandana for sunbathing round the pool, but more often than not, it's a type of female cricket hat. This means that both my forehead & ears are protected.

Big hat - the dafter the better!!!

Will buy some sort of tourist style ridiculous hat when I am there - I am not a hat person and no matter why hat I wear I look like a complete twit - but I don't worry about it, I have to wear one as get too hot and face does loveleee shades otherwise

Helen, I can't believe its been nearly a year since my cowboy hat tradgedy !! please explain about the female cricket hat, I like the sound of that one !!!!

I have one similar to the one modelled by the eyecandy but I usually wear a baseball type one. They both look ridiculous but I have to wear a hat or I get headaches in the heat.

Helen that's the kind i wear. I look a right idiot but i don't care as if i don't wear one i go a bright pink colour.

I have an old faithful like that too Helen . Mines a beige /white flowery primark one purchased for about £1.50 ooh must be 5 years ago now . I've certainly had my monies worth out of that .

Thing is I need to protect myself again heat stroke etc but hats make me feel all hot and bothered so I tend to prefer a band type thingie that just pushes the hair off my face .If i'm lying on the sunbed I sort of get to the point where I'm so hot I couldnt give a fig about what I look like and normally use the band thingy and then kinda perch the cricket hat on top of my head without pushing it down or lie it on my face which then makes me even hotter . I then give up and often wrap my sarong around my head and tuck the loose bits in the sides like a turban. I may then look a complete sight but at least I feel cool.

Ladies we need to start a new turban style trend in a nice crisp, cool sarong type material .

I hate wearing anything on my head as it just feels too hot, however after last year and an hour or two of wandering around the town in the midday sun resulting in my face looking like a beef tomato for 2 days, I have this year decided that I must take more care.

So I got in the sale from, Joe Brown's a light, floppy straw hat which will see me through anything and will fold up and spring back to life in my luggage no bother.

I've tried a hat with a nice brim but it gets in the way when I'm laying on my sunbed reading. The back of it pushes against the lounger which results in it falling off

I have a baseball cap but dont wear it I carry it around with me everywhere I go but it usually just stays in the bag. I might "perch" it on my head if its exceptionally hot and im sunbathing, but thats about it. I just dont do hats.

Hats dont work for me, I look a fool whatever I wear, have tried all different sorts of hats and caps(which I find too hot), but look silly in them all. I have a beanie type hat which I do put on when it gets too hot and by that time I dont really care how I look.....
How come some women can put any type of headwear on in the sun and look so stylish and cool.

I loved that thread too Sarah, & I've just noticed it was juby that sarted it. I think she must be paarnoid about her holiday gear Don't worry juby, I can never manage that European chic look on hols either. I look what am (especially during the day) a British fashion disaster.

Isn't it funny but on this thread and the previous one we all think we look awful in our beach wear and hats. Why is it then, when I look around the beach and pool I think everyone looks good except me! I never see you lot on my hols!

Helen, you are so right !! Still haven't managed the 'eurochic' look
However, armed with my leopard print trilby, I will be trying my hardest to work the effortless coolness of the 'mexicola' look
Just have to keep reminding hubby that all photo's MUST be taken in soft light !!
