Just got back today after week at Ariadne in Tsilivi. Weather great all week. Everything about Zante was fantastic. No problems arriving or departing the airport. Only delay was our flight home by 20 mins. The computer showing flights/arrivals don't work but toilets OK, it is small one cafe, one duty free shop. But I had no problems that after reading some threads was very concerned. Inside the cool airport all the time. Enjoy your hols peeps !

I have finally booked this years holiday to Zante next week, our first time there!

Has anyone been to the Water Village in Zante in the last couple of years? Would like to hear some reviews on whether its worth the 18Euros for a day trip there?

Thanks!

iam about to book a holiday to tsilivi for july 2010 we were thinking of booking the planos beach appartments and iam a little worried because ive read conflicting reviews , it will be myself my partner and my daughter will be 15 months when we go, i was wondering is it too much of a party town to take my daughter we dont want it to be too quiet and want there to be things to do both for ourselves and our daughter will there also be plenty of other families there or is just a couples place ??? and if any1 has stayed in the planos beach appartments i'd really welcome all of your coments

thanks for your help

Hi,

I've just returned from my 1st visit to Kalamaki boo :cry and i was getting my money from the local ATM machine - only do this though if your bank does not charge you otherwise you will get hit with silly charges.

Exchange rate i got was 1.15 to 1.165 doing this, otherwise the in resort boards were saying 1.12 to 1.13 outside places.

Have a great time!

Thanks very much! Think I may change most my money up here then before i go as sounds a better exchange rate here and im not sure if my bank will charge me for withdrawing money so best to not take the risk! :sun2

Hi Hotsummer..

I just looked at a few web sites and the money saving expert web site.

The expert suggests all banks charge or load the exchange for Debit card ATM use abroad apart from.
Nationwide Bank
The Post Office
Saga

All banks charge for Credit card use.

At the moment if you purchase Euro's from the Post Office you would get € 1.1254 for your £ pound.

If you used a Nationwide Debit card at a Visa Cirrus ATM at the same time you would receive € 1.1523.

That's an extra £13.45 on £500 at the current rates at the ATM abroad. Rates go up and down so you could buy now and set your spending or use ATM's and get the current rate at resort.

Visa exchange rates for Nationwide Debit card abroad.

Thanks alot, thats interesting to know. Im with HSBC so i would presume that i would probably be charged abroad to use my Debit card at an ATM - although i was never charged to use it in Turkey a couple of years ago?

I am on an AI holiday so hopefully shouldnt need to much extra so if i just change half up then i guess i'll find out if im charged when im out there!

Will report back!

Hi Hotsummer

Here's the Debit Card Overseas page for HSBC.

http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/current-accounts/debit-cards#7_2_E7S

They don't make them easy to find... ;)
depending what type of account you have with them there
is a chart on the lower half of the page showing charges.

ATM use Basic account 2% or £1.75 min £5 max + 2.75% ERA (exchange rate adjustment)
Shopping card use is FREE with the 2.75% ERA.

You must be one of their special premier plus customers :D and have the account that doesn't charge...
I was going to In that case you can enjoy a few extra ice cool drinks sitting on your sunbed :sun2 but your AI so i guess a little more spends in the duty free on the way home :tup

I realise this maybe covered elsewhere, if so, you can merge with them.

Im going to Tsilivi a week on sunday and im a bit unsure what the best way to get the best exchange rate,

Whats the exchange rate like over there?

Am I better getting all of my money in Euro's here first?

Are there many cash machines in Tsilivi?

Thanks in advance.

Oh

P.S
has anyone got that road map of Tsilivi, the cartoony one with all the hotels/resteraunts/bars on?

Id very much appreciate it if you could forward it on to me.

Muchas grassias
