I have found map I referred to and found Tsilivi Beach Hotel on it. It is actually alot closer to the centre of Tsilivi than we were. I am fairly certain that I did see the hotel; we went for a meal at a restaurant right on the sea front called the Boat House and your hotel is at the back of this restaurant. The hotel looked very nice and is very close to the beach and a lovely big swimming pool. It is a good location.

The restaurant was a lovely setting and quite reasonable and quite good food too. It seemed that quite a few people staying at this hotel used this restaurant.

We are very excited about going to Zakynthos, as we have never been to Greece before. We were in Turkey twice, and enjoyed ourselves there, so I presume we will enjoy Greece too

This was my first time to Greece too. I had been to Turkey many years ago and whilst beautiful we did not have a good hotel which brought down the whole holiday.

Anyway got to get packing now we're off to Prague tomorrow for the weekend!

Was in Zante 15th - 29th May & was told that the New Arrivals part of the New Terminal would be open by September. Apparently, the WHOLE Building was supposed to have been fully functional on May 15th this year. Sadly, it is a long way off that !!

Why not try http://www.justzante.co.uk. Not sure if your accomodation is on it but I found it really helpful last year when going to Kalamaki.

I would be surprised if any upgrades have actually happened. Every year there are rumours about airport improvements but very little actually happens.

Still don't worry about it. Your stay on the island will more than make up for the airport experience.

It will take approx 25 mins to stroll in to the resort centre.
You will pass a taverna called the Paradise on the right, this is very nice with lovely food.

Was wondering about using the ATM's this year. Not sure whether it costs quite a bit when you withdraw money and what about using your CC in restaurants etc. In the past have only used my CC for car hire. Any advice very welcome.

howdy!!!!! i went to zante with some mates back in 98,99 & 2000. back then it was fantastic... we stayed in tsilivi which was perfect for getting a few early drinks in and then we'd get a taxi to lagana or argassi for a big night out. went to kefalonia in 2003 and got a ferry back to zante for a few days to say hello to all the old haunts but got a huge shock when we saw how tourist-like it had all got. tsilivi was twice as big as it was when we last went, completely over-run with english. i hope this doesnt sound derogitory or offensive, but personally when i go away i dont want it to feel like im out partying in my local town where drunk and rowdy english yobs are ten a penny. it was the same with lagana, it was absolutely packed with young people getting smashed. of course some people like to go away and let their hair down and have a wild fortnight and thats completely fine.... but personally i like my vacations with a little more subtlety. this is just my opinion and i hope i dont come across as pompous!

generally sounds positive, Zante is one of the greek islands i havent been to yet so sounds like its worth adding to my list of places to consider for a cheap last minute deal!

Might I just add that Zante is NOT in Crete, and you might find more response on the Greece and Greek Islands forum on this site.

how easy is it to go on day trips to other islands from Zante? would like to do a bit of independant exploring, is there a port or something that you can wander down to and catch a ferry and do some island hopping? we will be staying at Laganas.

I think they go from Zante town, not far away and there were lots of big cats and ferries which went to the mainland etc.

We were in Aghios Sostis just round the corner from Laganas and there were lots of places doing trips to Athens and other Islands but I didn't notice where they went from.
There is a little harbour at the far end of Laganas beach, near the Island with the monastry on (right if your looking out to sea) , but as I said I didn;t notice sorry!
