Hi There,
Have been thinking of visitng Zante this year for a week in June. Its looks fab in the brochures etc but I don't know which part to go to. Would be looking for somehwere lively but not full of young ones' either. thought Argassi looked nice but the beach is supposed to be brutal. Lagnas then looks the complete opposite mental? Can anyone let me know which is a nicer place to visit for afew girls, aged 25-28. thanks a mill!!!
Laurence
Laganas has the best beach by far and is the most lively resort. I love it but then again Im 19 will be 20 this year and most people are ageing with me in laganas. Its not too mental though and you could still have a nice holiday there

Alikes is nice, it`s a nice walk along the beach round to Alikanes.
Im 23 and I went to Kalamaki last year, there was a variety of people staying at our hotel which was close to the beach (I think it was called Hotel Dennis), and a bar which was fab, showed films etc, and a 5 minute walk away were all the restaurants and bars. I think there are a few clubs there too, but like I said if you want to go to the clubs for the night just hop in a taxi for a five minute trip to Laganas. If you go to Zante I recommend the Jeep Safari around the island which most operators offer, its so much fun and you get to swim in the sea with a natural mineral and collagen spa (great for the skin!!!)

Hi, I think you would really like Tsilivi. My husand & I spent 2 weeks there last summer and loved it. We are 28 & 31 and hope to return this summer. The beach is lovely although it's not the best on the island. There are so many restaurants and plenty of bars too, without being crazy like Laganas. Checkout ps checkout http://www.tsilivi-travel.gr Frances is a great help with any queries and a lovely lady
I am going to Tsilivi for the first time in June, hope I love it.
I stayed in Argassi in September 2004 with my girlfriend and would agree that the beach is very poor. Otherwise this resort would be ideal for what you are looking for. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants and your nights can be as quiet or as lively as you want. All the restaurants we ate at were of a high quality.
We got a taxi over to Laganas (15 euros) when we fancied a 'mad' night and although we had a really good time (well we did get free shots in every bar, and 2-4-1 in most!) we were glad we weren't staying in the resort as it would have been a bit much every night. There were numerous 18-30 style bar crawls taking place and music blaring from bar after bar. The age range of people we saw was predominantly teens and early twenties which isn't surprising as the resort seems more geared up for the younger crowd. We found it great for one night but a bit much for 7. Must be getting old!

has to be alykanas or alykes our first trip to greece and been their two year in a row ,lovwly laid back place fab food , excellent beach if you want a relaxing holiday you have to try ( we have three kids 12, 15, 18) who love it , were going to corfu this summer for a change but will be back as a couple to alykes in septmber cos you cant beat this place and you do get remembered if you return
Laganas Beach (Bay) has three resorts Kalamaki, Laganas and Aghios Sostis.
Laganas obviously being the 18-30 capital of the island. Kalamaki and Aghios Sostis are quieter neighbours favoured by those wanting a few nights out but, not sure if they can keep it up for 7 days and nights. I must add if you pick the right Hotel or Appartments in Laganas you can have a great holiday there at any age.
Alykes Alykanas and Tsilivi are favoured by those wanting the Zante stamp in the passport without the clubbing and 18-30 lifestyle. Tsilivi is nurturing a reputation for low cost beer and chips holidays but, i hear around the web the locals are trying to pull it back to a more traditional Greek feel which it had a few years ago.
where ever you choose i hope you enjoy Zakynthos.
ps did someone mention the Airport

Tsilivi, We went in May a couple of years ago and it was nearly all families there at that time. Found a lovely beach away from the main one, the sand was lovely and you could walk out into the sea for ages before it got deep. The nightlife is varied you can go in lots of bars if thats what you like or just have a nice meal.
having been to corfu the last two years running i will never complain about zante airport again
There is a new arrivals hall at Zakynthos airport and the old part of the terminal is now all departures, so the airport isn't

Captain Spiros is a character and will make your trip enjoyable. He managed to find turtles even though everyone else said it was too late to see them. He lets kids and ladies drive the boat.

Did the fish at Kalamaki bite anyone elses feet?????
If you go to Argassi you have to visit the Red lion!!!
Also is the Green Fog still going thats a great bar/restaurant too and they really entertained the kids when we went for Argassi hope i will be saying the same for Laganas when we get back in August long time off yet i know
Myself and my fiance visited what I am pretty sure is the quietest (but loveliest) and most non-touristy place in Zante, namely Vassilikos. It has a few lovely tavernas, a really friendly Greek bar AND if you look for it another bar/club open till the early hours. That's it for nightlife but we found that enough, combined with the fact that Vassilikos village has three lovely beaches right on your doorstep, unlike other parts of Zante like Argassi (which we thought was absolutely horrible). You can also do various day trips with the hol company and visit Argassi and Zante town easily.
I could go on but basically it is an undiscovered treasure, we are going somewhere similar this year but with maybe one or two extra bars - that's the only disadvantage. But for my money, to avoid cheap tacky places and for gorgeous beaches and friendly locals, it's the best place in Zante.
Anyone else been to beautiful Vassilikos?
Cheers, have fun!
Yes we were there several years ago when there was 1 hotel 1 bar 1 taverna and nothing else price wise was unbeliveable we could get the bus into Zanti Town or Arrgassi spend the day there it was cheaper than getting two breakfast in Vassiliki but the beach was fantastic and was used for b'b'q' by boat trips a lot and the Germans as a nudist beach but this was severval years ago
