The resort is remote. Long journeys for excursions were rewarded with very very good value for money trips. The overnight Havana trip at £200 is essential!!! It sounds expensive, but flights, 5 star hotel, all meals and excellent guide made it very well worth it! Stunning!!!
The speedboat trip was sensational and cheaper than a ride along the beach in a converted microlite!
Colorful Cuba was also very good!
Not much to do in the resort itself, so take a bit of extra cash for excursions!
We'll definitely go back to Cuba (even just to spend more time in Havana!) ( Oh! Those MOSQUITOS! I've travelled all over the world and never, ever been bitten by a mosquito... In Cuba, I was like a dartboard! Be prepared.. the repellents do not work!!!)

We stayed just outside the main resort, this is more a group of all inclusive hotels than a proper resort and the only entertainment is in the hotels. the beach near our hotel was great, fine sand, warm shallow sea and watersports. When the weather was bad lots of seaweed was washed ashore but the hotel staff did rake this up.

The resort was very nice, There was alot of sea weed on the beach.
The Island of Cayo Coco is a hotel based holiday you will have to take an 40 minute coach ride and pay the toll, If you want to get to the nearest Cuban Town.
Watch out for the wild cows walking around the island.

The Cayos are un-inhabited islands. There is a lot of swamp land in the Cayos and often if you go out and about you will notice the creeky smelling water which is rather un-pleasant. Its aslo a good idea to not that as the Cayos are un-inhabited that there is very little to do on the islands. There for there is no resort entertainment apart from the entertainment at the hotels.
The beaches in the Cayos are beautiful to view. But note that there is a lot of coral on entering the water. The water in Cayo Coco comes to waist height and in Cayo Guillermo it is below the knee. On entering the sea at Cayo guillermo there is very little coral but lots of shells and stones. The beach at Cayo Coco is long and you can walk endlessy without seeing another hotel. In Cayo Guillermo there are 4-5 hotels on the stretch of beach. We aslo went to Playa Pillar which is the most beautiful beach I have seen in the Cayos. It has pristine water and soft white sand. the only downside to this beach is the flies and dragon flies that are in abundance. Also is is worth noting that the toilet facilities at this beach are appauling with no water being present in the cisterns.
Due to the awful holiday experience we had in Cuba we wouldn't return to anywhere in Cuba again. We are disappointed that we didn't get to visit the mainland and see Havanah but the excursions were so expensive. 2 adults and 2 children on a day excursion was almost £500.

The resort was fairly clean. I did see a few slithers of glass about the staff smash alot of plates and glasses and are not so quick to clean it.
I have been to Cayo Coco before and I love the beach it is so safe especially for small children and very clean exactly as the brochures show.

The Beach was out of this world. I have been to many places in the Carribean and this was by far the nicest Beach I have seen. The sand was white and soft and the Sea was crystal clear and warm. You could walk out for at least 500 metres before the water gets too deep.
There were always plenty of sun loungers and the beach bar was really close for drinks and food (food was pretty good here actually).
The walk to the beach was over a lagoon and didn't take long. The Lagoon sometimes kicked up a bit of stink but wasn't really a problem.
We went on 2 trips whilst we were there. We had a day out on a large catamaran. This was really cool and the weather was fantastic. Lunch was provided which consisted of Lobster and shrimp and was lovely. Snorkelling gear was provided too with several opportunities to snorkel.
We also had a day out doing jungle Safari on speedboats. We both loved this! The boats were great fun and fast but supervised well by instructors. Make sure you take bananas to feed the massive array of fish and funny little beaver like characters that come out of the trees when you stop to snorkel.
The swimming pools were kept immaculate by one particular guy who acted as a waiter in the day for a small tip. This was great and meant we didn't move much.
The gardens around the hotel were beautiful and well kept by a couple of old guys. These fellas made hats out of palm leaves and were grateful for a small tip.
Overall we had a great time and would definately return to Cayo Coco and this hotel!!!

Cayo Coco is better value than any Spanish resorts any day and we will never return to spain after visiting Cuba.
The beach is kept clean, the water warm day and night.
resturant on the beach for free food and drinks, plus pizza hut, free canoes, pedaloes, sailing boats.
Games on the beach all day if you want to join in.
The beach is long , so you can have a quiet spot if you wish. Go on the speed boat trip, you get to drive it yourself, well worth the money.
Finally just go, this is a very special place,we are going next year again.

The resort was very nice to look at and the gardens and beach area were kept very clean. Apart from a couple of hotels and the airport there is nothing else outside of the hotel grounds which meant that unless you wanted to pay to go on the over priced trips you were stuck.
I would not recomend this hotel to anybody unless they sacked all the cooks and tried a little harder to entertain people.

Again, out of the hotel, serious problems with the mosquitos, take as much repellent as you can!
We went on the catamaran day trip where we saw 7 dolphins, a turtle and lots and lots of beautiful tropical fish. There were loads of jelly fish around you but these ones don't sting, I held one in my hand just to prove it!
The only other trip we went on was the speed boat racing with snorkling option in the mangroves, again, the fish were amazing, really large parrot fish etc
Summing up though, we wouldn't go back because of what happened with our Son and the really bad mosquitos.
