Location
Staff fantastic, food fantastic, drinks fantastic, animation team worked all hours.
Location not the best, but bus outside the door - very cheap.
Even wrote to Managing Director of Louis Hotels complimenting the fantastic staff. Always wanted to go back.
Everybody was very friendly - nothing was too much trouble for anybody - have never been treated so well on holiday.
Have been to Tenerife 4* all inclusive and Rhodes 5* all inclusive since - Phaethon definitely the best.
Have booked a winter break with Thompson - paying more to stay at the Phaethon and going in a fortnight - can't wait - having read recent reviews we are not going to be disappointed.

rooms were a bit basic ,but this is all you need.
We went all inclusive which was excellent.Waiters were all very friendly as were all the staff.Food you could not fault.
Evening entertainment was not very good and also took place in the night club under the hotel.Very warm down there.
Paphos is nice but quite a long walk (ok if you like walking) however you can catch a bus outside hotel only 50cents well worth it.Down fall was that there was not really anywhere to walk to in the evening. As the entertainment was not very good it did get a bit boring just sitting in the bar all evening.
Pool was great, the race to get your towel out early on the sunbeds was not as bad as when we were in Ibiza. There is plenty of room.Kids loved it.
Amust is the jeep into the troodos mountains, brilliant day out plus guides very funny and knowledgable.I thought it would be really hot stuck in a jeep however it was really cool in the mountains.
Water park is right opposite the hotel we went here twice and if its your thing it is brilliant.overall a good holiday.

We booked H/B and at the time was not aware of the fact that there was an all inclusive option with some other agents, I have to say that this would have put me off booking as I am of the opinion that the only reason hotels offer A/I is if they have some sort of problem but the only one fault I could find with the Phaethon was its location, a bit to far out, I like to be able to just walk out of the hotel and have at least a small bar and a few shops at hand. It has to be said though that with the amount of land that has been sold in the area for construction it wont be long before that problem is solved.
One last thing with construction in mind the plot directly next door between the Phaethon and Pioneer beach has been aquired for "tourist development" so anyone booking for either of these hotels for 2004 should keep this in mind, you could end up next to a building site.
Happy to answer any other questions if required.
Cheers.
Mark.

We stayed here in May 2003 on an all inclusive basis as part of our wedding package. So it was myself, my husband our 2 children (aged 3yrs and 18 months)and both sets of parents.
The hotel was spotlessly clean and reception area very roomy and airy. It proved a welcome place to relax on our return to the hotel following a day trip etc, and the air conditioning in there was a life saver! A waiter was always on hand too to take a much needed drinks order!
The food was excellent, and for me to say that being such a fussy eater, it must have been good!! The childrens buffet table was separate to the adult one and was just the right height for the kids (even the toddlers) to reach and pick their own burgers, pizza, chips etc.
All the staff were friendly and couldnt do enough for you. We even borrowed kids buggies from the reception area for the full 2 weeks and when we went to pay on our last day we were told that a box of chocolates for the receptionm staff would suffice!
The entertainment was so-so, and all took place in the basement at night - which didn't seem to be very well air-conditioned and therefore tended to get rather warm after a while.
There was a kids club but ours were a little young so am unable to comment on that.
I agree with other comments that the hotel location was a little disappointing but the buses that stop outside the hotel are so frequent and so cheap that in a matter of 10 minutes you are in the "hussle and bussle" of Paphos Harbour.
As I mentioned before we went out there to get married and I can thoroughtly recommend it. The wedding co-ordinators couldnt do enough for us and the Bridal March was played in the reception on our return from the ceremony, as the staff lined the way and cheered us. We then posed on the beach and in the hotel grounds for photos followed by a champagne and canape reception on the hotel terrace. Superb - a perfect day!
We will definately be visiting this hotel again and it will definately be on a wedding anniversay so that we can re-live all our wonderful memories!

Visit number-4.
Travelled with Portland.
We can honestly say that our 4th visit was every bit as good if not better than our previous three. Without a doubt we will be returning again. Rather than just trip out a load of cliches saying how wonderful the place is, we will try to be a bit more specific in detail and try to portray what we experienced on our latest visit.
Arrival/transfer from airport.
In previous years we have been dropped off first making the transfer time from the airport about 20 mins. This time we were last to be dropped off making transfer time about 35 mins. Therefore, from the off you are not confronted with an arduous coach journey into the middle of nowhere. More a pleasant drive that seems to pass in next to no time.
This year we had heard a lot of "horror stories" regarding the roadworks on Poseidon Avenue where the Phaethon is situated. In fact, Portland made a point of warning us about the roadworks when we booked some 7 weeks before our holiday (early August). Their information was badly out of date (the girl said her "latest" information was dated March) as the roadworks had finished some time in June.
As soon as we stepped off the hotel, the porter we remembered from our earlier visits greeted us with a warm smile, a handshake and a "welcome home". Already the holiday had got off to a great start. Not sure about anyone else but the small personal touches mean a lot to ourselves.
Once checked in, up to the room and there is a knock on the door. A waitress was standing there with a tray loaded with a bottle of wine and a bowl of fruit. "With the compliments of the manager, welcome back".
What a fantastic touch!!
Food.
If we said that most of the reps ate there, coach parties turn up at meal times, the management ate there and the chef himself is regularly seen tucking into his own fare suggests that the food is a bit special. And a bit special it is too. No matter what your diet is you will find food aplenty for your own needs.
Drinks.
A very wide choice of drinks are available all day. During the day, the pool side bar serves a full range of drinks. Ending the day by the pool with an early evening "cocktail of the day" was always a great way to set ourselves up for the evening. We would then walk into the Vienna Cafe bar for a quick Cappuchino before going up to our room.
Before our evening meal we would have a couple of bevvies in the Atrium bar. All waiter/waitress service served by friendly staff who quite literally must walk miles upon miles each night.
Activities/Entertainment.
During the day there is a host of activities available for adults and children alike. If you want to try and emulate Robin Hood's archery prowess, score "180" or bag the winning goal in 5 or 11 aside football, you can do it here day after day. There is also a large pool of course, an inside pool, French bowls, aqua aerobics, volleyball, aerobics, shuffle board, water polo, tennis, play ship for the kids, bowls, gymnasium, sauna, jacuzzi etc
Staff.
All very friendly, professional and helpful. Unfortunately, we cannot remember all their names. But a special mention to Segei and Demetrious (a Cypriot with a Brummie accent) from the bar, night porter Henrik and an extra special mention for Marios from reception. Also a great help and wealth of information.
Rooms.
Of a good size for two sharing. Floors are carpeted, T.V. shows local terrestrial T.V. Oh how we miss "Bold and the Beautiful" on Pikayo. If you are lucky enough to have a room overlooking the pool then you will also have a sea view. Our favourite time of the day was a balcony glass of wine watching the sunset.
Criticisms.
As you will have gathered we love the Phaethon. We are already looking forward to going back to our "second home". Our main criticisms ( if you can call them that) will not be a problem for many holiday makers. At home we are gym goers and our gym at home is top notch. The gym equipment at the Phaethon is dated and needs upgrading.
Evening entertainment after the Animation show at 10pm should cater only for adults. The kids have their own slot between 8pm and 9pm but after the Animation cabaret show finishes at 10pm, the dance floor tends to turn into a children's playground. A suggestion may be that the downstairs Chariots bar is extented and the adults can create their own "pub-style" atmosphere.
Conclusion.
Anyone looking for a fantastic value for money holiday at a hotel that caters for all tastes and needs should look no further than the Phaethon. We have recommended friends to go there and they have not been disappointed.
Go on try it out. You know you want to!!
PS. If anyone from the Phaethon reads this say "hello" to everyone for us. See you soon.

Accomodation: The hotel impressed us immediately, the main reception area was clean bright and welcoming. All other public areas we found to be well kept as there were maintenance people and cleaners always doing something to keep standards high. The bedrooms although dated were always spotless and adequate for their purpose.
Facilities: The hotel outdoor pool and area was thoroughly cleaned daily, we found that guests appreciated this and didn't deliberately make unnecessary mess. Eating areas were always clean, tables were tidied almost immediatlely as they were vacated, bar/cafe areas were the same. The indoor pool was as equally well kept.
Activities/Entertainment: There were always plenty of activities to keep people occupied, this was during the day and evening all delivered by a 10 strong versatile Annimation team.
Meals: The food was fantastic, there was a 7 day menu which had 5-6 choices for main course. The carvery was better than any we have ever had! Always fresh salad, soup, gateaux, cheese & biscuits. I could go on for ever but I would have no hesitations recommending this hotel (purely because of the food) to anyone who enjoys the same quality and choice as me.
Staff/Management: The staff here are so polite and would bend over backwards to ensure you have everything you want to make your stay enjoyable. In the Cafe Vienna Yousuf and Ali were always very friendly and on hand to make 'Nescafe all-milk' even though it was a pain in the backside to make on the camp stove (Christos can they have a microwave please?) Seeing the manager at our welcome meeting and then throughout our stay all round the hotel checking things were correctly done was also reassuring.
Thanks for a fantastic holiday we will be back sometime, we want to try some other equally fantastic Louis All-Inclusive Hotels for our next few holidays.
