Location
We arrived at the Rising Star at 2.30am after flying from Glasgow with My Travel. The flight left on time, although it is your typical package holiday flight, no space and the entertainment system was broken. Anyway back to the Rising Star.
Check-In
Fairly quick and efficient, no more than 5 minutes.
Room
We had a one bedroom apartment on the first floor overlooking the front of the hotel where we could see fields directly in front of us with the sea to the right and the ayios elias church to the left. This side of the hotel is quiet (apart from the bin men) and does not get the sun until late afternoon.
A/C was provided and was welcome in July where the temperature never dropped below 30'C even at night.
The kids had a sofa bed and a large camp bed, which were quite comfy, although we put our youngest (8) in the camp bed. We had the bedroom which had two single beds pushed together.
Storage space was a bit tight with one single wardrobe, one small drawer and a shelf beside each of the beds. Take lots of hanger and hang up as much as you can. There are three shelves in the wardrobe which you can use too. With a bit of creative use of the space, together with one case we managed fairly well with the clothes.
The kitchen area was well equipment with a fridge, toaster small oven and hot plate. To be honest we just had cereal, toast, juice and coffee for breaksfast and sandwiches, fruit etc for lunch. There was a full set of brand new saucepans should you wish to do some cooking.
The bathroom was small but hey how much space do you need! The shower was over the bath, but was strong with plenty of hot water.
The apartment was cleaned six days per week, but on the day off they emptied the bins which we appreciated.
Pool
The pool was great for kids. At first I was a bit disappointed to see the the deep end was only 1.5m deep. But after a few days we began to appreciate how well designed the pool was and how great it was for the kids. It has a zero depth entry and all depth changes are clearly marked. There are two shower areas round the pool. There were plenty of sunbeds, no need to get up at the crack of dawn, come down at 10am and there will still be plenty of beds left.
Entertainment
Chris and Aairon do a great job keeping the kids and adults amused. They must have done the splash dances hundreds of time, yet each time you watch them you would think it was the first time with the amount of fun and enthusiasm that they put into it. So its Spash Dance for the kids at 11.30ish, Quizzes and Games at 12, Water Polo for the adults and kids around 3pm with lots of fun in between. They are back at night for the kids doing a mini disco.
We did not watch all of the evening entertainment but the ones we did watch were great and the kids loved it.
Food
The food at the pool bar was good value, we ate here a couple of times and found it to be no more expensive than elsewhere.
Location
The location of the hotel is great. The sea in front of the pool is warm, but rocky hence it is great for the kids to go looking for fish, crabs etc or snorkelling. Walk for a minute or two and you have a nice sandy beach with sun beds and water sports.
A 5 minute walk takes you to the start of the strip with plenty of shops bars and restuarants.

was very clean, maid service six days a week. Not much storage space for four people, may need to bring own hangers.
kitchen area had everything we could possibly need, although we only made sandwiches.
all beds were suitable, even for teenagers.
Entertainment was great although we felt there could be a bit more variety during the day.

The food was great, the restauraunt around the pool provided very simple meals for you during the day, great for breakfst and lunch.
The holtel is situated right next to the beach so it provides a great view, the sand can get really hot some times so we mainly stayed around the pool.
The staff in and around the hotel and pool had a really friendly atmosphere always there to help.
The entertainers...Aairon and Chris where amazing, really easy to get along with and provided brilliant entertainment for the kids and adults during the day and night, including splash dance, competitions and Karaoke, and some great shows on special nights...miss you both so much, keep up the good work.x

It was my first time in Cyprus and i couldn't of asked for more...
The rooms where kept very clean, the maids visited everyday, also the bedroom and living room had air conditioniong which helped a lot during the night.
The bar around the pool did very simple meals which came in handy for your breakfast and your lunch, but if you are looking for somewere t eat out during the nighttime then i highly recommend the Yianna Marie restaurant just over the road..their meals where gorgous.
The location of the hotel was situated right by the baech which provided you with a lovely view. I didnt do on the beach much because the sand can get extremely hot,but there is a little bit right opposite the pool where you can go and relax.
The hotel staff in and around the pool are extremelly friendly and are there to help if and when you need them.
Got to mention the lovlely Sue aswell(our rep)always there when needed and not afraid to get involved with the entertainment provided by the one and only...
Aairon and Chris...two of the loveliest peolple i have ever met, always getting you involved and keeping you busy from aroung half eleven to half four, starting with splash dance for the kids, killer pool/darts, daytime quiz and competition, kids water polo, adults water polo and finishing the day off with your quiz answers and competition draw. Even if you don't have kids they still are great fun to watch,i have never laughed so much in my life. They also keep you entertained on special nights around the pool and up on the veranda bar.I will take something specail to fill their shoes...miss you loads, keep up the good work...love you.x(hope you read this aairon)

Just returned home after our second visit to this brilliant hotel. Our journey out from Gatwick incurred a three hour delay, and THAT alone was the only negative point of our holiday. On arrival at the hotel we were given a fourth floor central room, which gave just the most amazing view over fig tree bay and the protaras coastline, and the complimentary bottle of wine and message left in our room welcoming us back was a great gesture. my daily early morning cuppa watching the beautiful Cyprus sunrise, was an awesome experience, having stayed here last year we knew what to expect and wasnt dissapointed, the hotel still maintains it high level of hygene, cleansiness, and friendiness.and all the staff here are first class, it really is service with a smile at the rising star. The entertainment team, AAron & Chris, were great for the kids & adults alike with pool discos and games, quizzes and competitions etc during the day and plenty going on at night as well, they put on theme nights with good food, entertainment, and shows.you really cant get bored in this place, but if you want to ignore everything and totally chill out, then you can, its up to you.never visited the Gym or Sauna, thats available but used the Excellent Tennis court thats available, as the warm Medditeranian sea is on site here we once again made use of the wonderful fishing, snorkling and swimming that this provides and also went para-gliding and joined the kids on the pedalos.Cyprus was boiling during our stay with daytime tempratures in excess of 50 celsius, with the occassional 45 degrees at night. their hottest summer for a Decade. but as the weather is a big factor of why i go to this island, i enjoyed the hot spell, and it will stay with me back home in winter when the cold and rain sets in.we enjoyed visiting the restaurants again on resort and still regard the Nissiotis on the beach as the best by far, they remembered us and we enjoyed the great food and service they provide. didnt venture into town that much this year as the warm evenings make you lazy, plus everything is close at hand, so no need too. once again everyone at this hotel gets on so well and the atmosphere is brilliant we all met up with people who we knew from from last year, plus new friendships as well, the one big factor about this hotel is people return on a regular basis, that alone speaks volumes, we hired a car and got to some places that we never see last year including Pernera, and Cape Grekko, which has really deep water totally amazing place, for swimming, snorkling, diving, jumping off of rocks just loved it.i only wish i was still there now.
the Rising Star and Protaras, just booked again for 2008, cant wait highly reccomend it, see you next summer.
