Staff friendly and welcoming.
Location perfect for resort & Fig Tree Bay.
Everyone complains about Block B as it is across the road - this really wasnt a problem. Just a few extra yards to walk !! Road was quiet and led to car park anyway.

It was clean, spacious and friendly and very conveniently located for Fig Tree Bay. From doorstep to sand took approximately 8 minutes.
We had a one bedroom apartment on the fourth floor in block D which also had a partial sea view so we were pleased with that. (We had paid extra for a pool view so that we could supervise the children down below).
There were plenty of sunbeds without having to get up at the crack of dawn, although the second week, which was half term, was noticeably busier.
We only ate at the hotel on one occasion, which was breakfast and was very good with adequate choice. You could upgrade to half board (minimum 3 days) or all inclusive when you are there. However, we found the dining area a little gloomy and always enjoy eating out at different places on holiday.
The hotel staff, including the maid, were very helpful and friendly. The room was cleaned about 4 or 5 times a week.
In my opinion the only thing which let the Vangelis down was the entertainment round the pool during the day, which we thought was very poor. The young lad and lass from the entertainment agency seemed very inexperienced and I wouldn't say particularly child-friendly. This meant we went to the beach most days rather than stay round the pool, and we didn't even contemplate staying around for their evening performances. We did catch sight of the magician, an outside act, one night and that was very good.
All in all, we would definately recommend the Vangelis, as long as you are not looking for poolside entertainment.

Hotel was clean at all times. Staff both on the reception, the bar and the chamber maids were always eager to please and extremely polite - despite the obvious language barrier!
Two of the Barmen - Figo & Antonio, have made a lasting impression on my 3 yr old little girl she was in her element as they let her "help" them behind the bar during quiet times. Small gestures glean huge appreciation.....
Because of the time of year we visited (05-09-07 for 2 weeks) we had no problems getting a bed by the pool or a table in the bar area however, we spoke to people who arrived a week prior to us who said you couldn't move for prams and buggies!!
So, if you plan to visit during the school holidays you have been warned. This is a family orientated hotel and so is very popular for families with younger children.
I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
We fully intend to stay here again next year as we were so impressed.

Never in the world is this a 4 star hotel !!!!!Butlins in Cyprus would be an ideal name
Went to the sister hotel -Thalassaki in Ayia Napa and that was a lot better
1. To say it was built in 2000 it is in need of refurbishment- looks very dated in rooms, balconies etc
2. The amount of people who got ear infections was unbelievable( 3 out of our party got them and they had never had them before !!!( pool hygeine?)
3. Rip off prices for drinks / ice creams etc
4. Felt like a flipping German due to lack of sunbeds etc - Most sunbeds had towels on them at 8-00am
5. Entertainment - same tedious warbling etc - was ok at first but same thing all the time as weeks went on
6. Cannot believe the amount of people who book all inclusive and just hang around hotel all day / night etc especially when they are so many nice places to visit and eat. Not surpised we as a country are getting to be as obese as America given all these all inclusive packages
Went to look at Rising Star- seems a lot cleaner /organised than Vangelis so will book there next time
In General Protaras very good with good eating places and like i say will go back but defo not to the Vangelis

Pool area and public places such as lift and staircase were not cleaned very well. Rubish strewn around pool area every day, bins not emptied enough to cope with amount of rubbish created. Pool looked grimey most of the time.
Entertainment was fine although not always what was on the board. Entertainers seemed fun and friendly.
All staff seemed friendly.
Excellent location, central for everything.
Food looked good but never tried it, too many lovely places to eat in resort.
Place could do with a refurb and a proper cleaning schedule every day. All-incl people seem to be the guys enjoying the surroundings and facilities the most saying it was the an excellent place to stay. Perhaps it was the beer goggles!!!!
