Take a torch for night-time. Returning to the hotel at night is dangerous.

Get a ground room floor as it will help as there are no lifts to the other floors so it can be a bit of a walk with a pram.
Make sure on the strip you visit the Meze restaurant with the funny symbols in the name. It is one of the best Meze places in Protaras. Also Molti was a great restaurant to stay in.

The resort is a small and friendly place where you`ll find 15 -20 restaurants.if you`re after clubs this is not the place for you. There are a few lively pubs and bars however which do the usual karaoke and elvis nights.Best value for money was Gordon Blue restaurant at the top of the town and the friendliest was a place called Cartacus or something like that. Most places did a set menu of two or three courses and these were good value. We can recommend having the Lamb Kleftico in any restaurant in fact we never had a poor meal during our entire stay.We did venture in to Protaras several times aswell and a must see is the talk of the town show at the Sphinx bar, hilrarious. If you wan to hire a car, see Toni at Platon car hire, About 23 euros a day for 4 days when we went.Take care and good map if you venture into the Troodos mountain area. If you`ve not hired a 4x4 don`t drive on the roads marked in white on the map.Waterworld in Aiya Napa is well worth a visit and you need a whole day really as there are the inevitable queues for the "rides".All in all,one of the best holidays we`ve ever had.

There was only a few bars around the hotel unless you walk 20 mins to protaras , we tended to stay in bars locally. they were cheap and friendly. We had lunch a few days at mojita bar it was delicious and not too expensive and the owner were really nice they are a british couple.we also went to fools and horses bar this was cheap and staff very friendly and food nice.

This resort was quite quiet and good for families. We were close to some nice restaurants particularly the Mojito and also the beach which was small but quite nice. Only 5 mins in a Taxi to Protaras strip which cost 10 euro (expensive). Everything is very expensive especially eating out and drinks. A coke cost €2.40 and an average snack meal about €8. The entertainment was dire to say the least, was very much like Butlins Holiday camp entertainment.

The resort of Protaras has everything you need and suitable for all. There are plenty of bars that provide evening entertainment and lots of restaurants with good food. There are regular buses to Ayia Napa, the water park and Paralimni, every 20 mins and only costs 1 euro each. Beach is very nice, we preferred Protaras beach to Fig Tree Bay. Plenty of watersports and boat trips availiable and lots of sunbeds and umbrellas. Becomes more lively in the evenings but suitable for familes and couples of all ages. Would definately return to Protaras.

Protaras is very expensive to eat out. The mini marts are very dear best to go to Paralimini about 3 miles away and go to the big carrefour supermarket or Orphanides where the locals shop you will save a fortune.
Friends bar on the main strip is nice for a drink the food is not well presented and dear much better is Cheers accross the road great for breakfast and lunch and good service.
Ate out quite a lot all quite samey and very expensive compared to other places on the Med.
Ayia Napa
Went there twice its a lot bigger than Protaras but nice to go for a wander round the shops more to look at.
Limasoll
Had a nice meal there and seemed that bit cheaper than Protaras.
Larnaca
Went and had a look round more shops in town went to the Go Karting circuit.
Nicosia
It was 39 degrees very hot had a wander down the main street went to Debenhams top floor to see the view accross to the Turkish side 70 ccents to get in.
Took our passports and had a wander accross to the Turkish side you can see the buildings still peppered from bullets and destruction.
Trodos Mountains
Went to the main Square has a few little craft shops and had a meal in the restaurant which was less expensive and very nice. Beware of the public toilets they absolutely stink so bad you will be gagging and full of flies in fact those are the worst toilets I have ever been in in my life. Dont go. It was much cooler only about 23 degrees so made a pleasant change.
Waterpark called Waterworld in Ayia Napa.
Took the bus there as John was using the car. 4 euro 15cents for tree of us. When we got there they wanted 90 Euro for three of us Its only an average waterpark and even dearer than the Florida waterparks which are outstanding. Didnt go in. My kids werent bothered. How tight an I?
Beaches
Dont bother at weekends the Cypriots claim their beaches.
Fig tree bay
Its quite small but good for snorkelling.
Konnos Bay
This was the best beach by far lovely sand and floating sunbeds which were 7 euro for two and 2.50 for a parasol but its so nice and not as crowded as fig tree bay.
Diving
John can totally recommend Sharkys Dive Shak which is at the end of the strip using one way system go left at Divas by the Traffic lights and walk for 5 mins and its on your left. Its run by a husband and wife team Colin and Chris and they are totally enthusiastic about diving. John had a few dives there and a night dive which he loved he also did the Zenobia wreck which was a great experience for him thanks guys at Sharkys.
Protaras
After visiting other places Protaras was the most pleasing there is plenty of shops and restaurants its quite cheesy and busy at the Mcdonalds end glad we were at the other end. Felt very safe and nice for a wander down the main strip. Try the bakery by the Sandra its the best in Protara fresh bread salad bar cakes pizza mmmm
Cyprus
First visit here. It could be anywhere on the med nothin special. The beaches and sea are very good but comparing the views and the cost other Med places we have been are a lot nicer so wont be returning in the near future.
Very hot. Get car hire but be careful the Cypriots have rules of their own whilst driving. Take plenty of money with you its not cheap Look out for the lizzards they are everywhere. Wear light clothes going home the airport is mafting.

had my doubts about cyprus , bit of a turkey fan , icmeler being my heaven . i loved protaras expensive , but if u shopped around bargins to be had , in are entire stay we didnt have a bad meal , special mention goes to the red indian diner and flinstones , and for reasonably priced beer and alcopops cheers bar , the bakery opposite deserves a mention as well , to be honest there tons of bars and places to eat , also most have play areas for the kids which i thibk comes in handy , and .......... u get no hassle from the resteraunt owners , u can walk past look at menu and you are allowed to make your own mind up .
and watch out for the very cheeky russian waitress in ripples cocktail bar, miss rude protaras 2008 , and there is a mc donalds and a pizza hut , i cant praise the resort enough , and i hope to back one day , have to take the wee man to icmeler 1st

Protaras is a lovely resort. If you want madness - you'll find it, if you want peace and quiet - it's there also. Yianna Marie, La Strada (Italian) and Chi Chi's (Mexican) were our favourites - don't go to Oscars Steak House - unless you like waiting an hour and a half for your food with two hungry kids!! The food was still good and I would have to say this was our third time in Protaras and we've never had a bad meal! The beach is gorgeous but avoid at the weekend cause all the locals decend and its like Wimbledon - all playing with their bats and balls along the seafront. You take your life in your hands going for a walk - you've been warned.
All in all we had a brilliant holiday at the Rising Star - its got the lot - beach, pool, the best entertainers we've met, great food, great staff. We'll be back!!

Lots of good bars, restaurants, etc. I was with a wife and 2 young children. No many bouncy castle type of things, but our kids were never bored.
Fantastic.
Fantastic.
