Take a torch for night-time. Returning to the hotel at night is dangerous.

Get a ground room floor as it will help as there are no lifts to the other floors so it can be a bit of a walk with a pram.
Make sure on the strip you visit the Meze restaurant with the funny symbols in the name. It is one of the best Meze places in Protaras. Also Molti was a great restaurant to stay in.

Beaches

We stayed in Protaras. We had stayed here 12 years ago, by the resort has changed alot. Really busy place now. They have the main road that goes on for about a mile, with loads of bars. We tended to stay at the top end of the road as it was,nt so crowed up that end. We went out from out hotel most nights and enjoyed the entertainment the bars offered. The beach was pretty, but very crowded. We stayed at our pool every day because the entertainment there was fantastic.

Protaras resort is one long street full of bars restaurants and shops, some tacky, some not. Personally i dont mind watching "Abba" or "Tom Jones", but my husband finds it a bit tacky, so if this is you then you can also just go for a nice meal in a restaurant and then a few drinks back at the hotel to end the evening. Fig Tree Beach is brilliant, the coral and fish is great for snorkelling, and Stavros Watersports is great, the guys are lovely and safety is paramount. I personally cannot swim, but i still did the banana boat etc, just tell them you cant swim and they'll go as slow or fast as you want. Paragliding is also there, the usual pedalos, and lots of strange inflatables you can be strapped to that take you 100mph across the water. Just above the beach please visit George Zefkas for your breakfast or lunch. The food is great and the guys in there are lovely. I can recommend the apple pie with ice cream!. All in all the resort has everything for all ages and tastes, is clean, friendly, and safe. Personally I cant wait to go back.

the resort was lovely short stroll on to the main strip where there were lots of bars and restaurants the best places we found to eat was the red indian and opposite the anatolia, cheap and great meals yanni marie was ok but a bit pricey and don,t miss out on mr cod the chippie british fish & chips and mushy peas wow a nice change, if you are young and want to go clubbing you are better off in aiya napa, families go for it a nice safe place no clubbing there, a totally child friendly resort

Protaras is compact with two excellent beaches, sadly overcrowded at this time of the year. Beautiful warm calm sea with so many fishes you'll be amazed. (Take some bread with you and have some fun feeding them.) Wide range of water sports for every level of risk seeker at very reasonable prices. The bakers next to the Friends Bar, sold a great range of prepared food and bread. You need to check with the staff that it's freshly baked as some of it can be a bit stale. (Even at 7.30am!) Best restaurant for me was the Molti, a contemporary eatery just across the road from the 'Love Boat'. Good wine too at reasonable price. It was the only place I went back to. Eden Sq. opposite 'Silver Sands Hotel' provided some good entertainment for families in the evening. The Water Show at the Macdonalds end of the strip was worth a visit, but get there before eight if you want to eat, as the show starts at nine and you need to be finished eating to really enjoy it at it's best. At 10 euros, the meal was good value.
If you do hire a car, do it mid week as weekends get very busy and you'll spend most of it in traffic jams and when you do find a remote beach, it will be full! Windmill car hire, presented good value and made the process very straightforward. (70 euros for 2 days)
Had a great holiday and can recommend it.

The Beaches were fantastic, Fig Tree Bay, the water was glorious, really clear and warm, it got a bit crowded specially at weekend which is to be expected as we were there in August, paid for your sunbeds straight away, The other beach which not sure what it was called Flamingo maybe? was also beautiful but with just a little bit of seaweed hanging about and a few rocks dotted here at there but beautiful clear sea, this beach is about a 2minute walk from the hotel, the sunbed guy there was a bit lazy and bit grumpy but ok, once we were at the beach we usually stayed there for most of the day apart from nipping off for drinks but some people would come and get their beds and go off for breakfast or early lunch and they hadnt already paid for your beds he would remove all there belongings and put them in his hut which is fair enough but it took him a couple of hours sometimes before he came and asked for payment so best thing really is going and see him and pay for them 1st or you'll have no sunbed when you go back.
Supermarkets, Happy Days is straight across from the hotel and is definitely the cheapest one, even for cigarettes.
Nightlife, this for us is where Protaras falls down, it wasn't horrendous but a bit too cabaret, most bars had acts on were usually Elvis, Robbie Willams and Cher and such, they moved from bar to bar each evening so if you didnt see them in one bar you'd see them in another the next evening, great if you like that type of thing, also lots of karoke bars, being the time of year again most of them were packed anyway so you couldnt get a seat unless you went out very early. There were a few bars just playing music and we stuck mainly to them, During the 2 weeks we were there we didnt have a bad meal, all the food was delicious, would have preferred a few more traditional restaurants though. Really good ones were,Mandarin Chinese, Anatolias, Red Indian, Island Affair, Steens which is on the top road (irish restaurant ) next to Gangas Indidan was superb, Homecooked food but cooked better than any food i've ever tried, well worth a visit, sadly we only tried it towards to end of our 2nd week otherwise we would have eaten there a few times, the owner Billy was very friendly. My husband and daughter also went Scuba Diving with his brother Dennis (it was their 1st time and he was brilliant), with them. they had a fantastic day, Definitely Definitely recommended. They also had a trip advertised for a full day to Farmagusta and a meal at the end of the night, after looking at the prices elsewhere theirs was definitely the best value for money but again we were near to the end of our holiday and didnt go.
All in all we had a great time in Protaras and would recommend it, we would go back to this hotel if we were to go back to Protaras but we tend not to go back to the same place again anyway.

Plenty of eating places around, had some really nice meals and all roughly the same prices. Plenty of nice beaches which are only a stones throw away and Protaras centre is a 10 minutes walk on a costal path, a little bit rough in places for a pushchair but we managed. Would definately recommend the are but I think I would try and stay somewhere with entertainment having a little one.

The resort is very nice although the entertainment is mainly Elvis and Robbie Williams. The beaches and the ocean are lovely, blue and warm.

The hotel is ideally placed in between Pernera & Paralimni so you could alternate between the 2 for a change.
Not very busy but a few people we spoke to said that the euro had killed a lot of the holiday trade and was now seen as too expensive to visit. We had a meal out for 2 with a decent bottle of plonk it came to 70 quid, so more or less what you would pay at home. Drinks more expensive, 8 quid for a pint of guiness & a strongbow!!
Beach was spotless with plenty of sunbeds/umbrella's.

The beach was great with plenty of water activities and restaurants. But when snorkeling it was amazing how much rubbish there was in the sea. This however was not reflected on the beach or shore line.
There were plenty of restaurants/bars in the centre, although we cannot comment on the night life as we had 2 small tired children. The staff in the bars/restaurants were very nice making it a refreshing pleasure to visit.
