Take a torch for night-time. Returning to the hotel at night is dangerous.

Get a ground room floor as it will help as there are no lifts to the other floors so it can be a bit of a walk with a pram.
Make sure on the strip you visit the Meze restaurant with the funny symbols in the name. It is one of the best Meze places in Protaras. Also Molti was a great restaurant to stay in.

A fairly busy resort - clean beaches and lots of water sports.
The sun beds were reasonably priced and there were plenty available.
The main resort of Protaras is a 20 min walk and well worth a visit especially in the evening.
There are plenty of shops and restaurants.

resort seems to make slight changes every year and just keeps getting better. ripples still our favourite bar but waves is a close second. fantastic restaurant opposite waves called astoria, ate there several times and can recommend the plank steak and chicken dianne mmmm!! as i pass by one particular gift shop the manager comes out to shake my hand as he remembers us as does a nearby snack/games cafe owner who serves my partner with lge mug of steaming nescafe and gives all info on her family with photos of new arrivals. best people ever. roll on next year

Hotel was nice, staff were ok apart from Polish bar staff only one in particular was very friendly.
Entertainmet was totally boring. Beach was lovely if you wanted to catch a taxi or walk a 15-20 mins but beach close to hotel was not very nice.
I would go back to Cyprus again but never to Papantonia.

Have stayed at Malama for five years now. If you want peace and quiet away from all the hustle and bustle this is the place.
Don't bother with taxis walk down to the roundabout and get the bus for 70cents and they run regularly (same price for either Protaras or Ayia Napa)but not so on a Sunday.
Protaras is great but after staying in such a peaceful area where the Malama is (Kapparis) you can't wait to get out of it.
The local bars and restaurants are great near the Malama (try Kara's for the best lamb kleftiko). Try Owen's bar (The Ozone), reasonable prices and friendly chat (and he'll make you a brew if you fancy one). Much cheaper than the hotel bar. Just wish they would put a foot path and better lighting on the main road but that said the road is never busy.
The resort is really quiet but that's how we like it as we have stressful jobs at home. Just thinking about swimming in the blue/green sea in front of the hotel just makes me want to be there right now.

The location was a little disappointing, although nice restaurants and bars to walk to, the local beach was very rocky and not good for children. We did walk to fig tree bay but it was a good half hour walk along the coastal path and not suitable for pushchairs.
Protaras was lovely but also quite a distance away, you would need to get a taxi in the evening. We loved Cyprus itself but would stay in a busier resort next time.

The resort is very clean, the pubs and clubs have a great variety of entertaiment, something for everyone. From Elvis/Robbie to karaoke to bingo!!
The beaches are the best I have EVER seen!! Very clean, great safety 1105.
I have been twice and I'm already booked for this year its that good.

I found this resort excellent. Plenty of bars, eating places all different types of restaurants maybe a bit too many karaoke bars not my taste. Plenty of local buses and taxis to get around in. Plenty of shops, supermarkets reasonably priced. Family friendly felt very safe at night when out and about.

Protaras is definately a family resort. Lots of children with mums and dads! Some great restaurants especially Chi Chi's (mexican near Elvis bar). Beach very busy at our time of visiting. Prefer Ayia Napa, mainly due to being in our twenties and it has more for our age group. Bus service good, we got the bus into Ayia napa (about twenty mins away on bus) and it only cost 70 cents each (less than £1)

The resort was always clean even though I never once saw a street cleaner. There is all sorts of entertainment to sort out everyones taste. so there is no excuse to not have a great time.
The beach... Fantastic.... Watersports with fantastic helpful staff and good equipment. The beaches do get very busy but there are enough of them to go around, so hire a car and visit them all. The resort is very good for families, the people are friendly and wonderful.

The resort starts a 2 minute walk up the road, will plenty of bars and restaurants, all of which were packed with entertainment ranging from Robbie Williams, Elvis, and Kylie impersinators to Kareoke bars and Hipnotists (Yes! my spelling is terrible!).
We never had a bad meal in the 2 weeks we were there, the kids can eat all they want at Pizza Hut for £3.65 if they are fussy eaters, we used to let them eat in there, when we ate in the restaurant next door - Food was fantastic, especially the Pepper Sirloin with Garlic Jacket Pot.
Plenty of gift shops to browse round. Water World Water Park in Ayia Napa is excellent value for money for a great day out for kids and adults of all ages. Although if your kids are a bit older, Protarus Water Park is alot smaller but loads of fun, because the life guards will let you do what ever you want, our kids had a fab time there although we did see a few bumped heads and nose bleeds !
If you fancy the risk, this is definately a good laugh.
Nissi Beach is worth a visit, but is very packed and full of water sports. The best beach is definately the one joining Rising Star.
