Take a torch for night-time. Returning to the hotel at night is dangerous.

Get a ground room floor as it will help as there are no lifts to the other floors so it can be a bit of a walk with a pram.
Make sure on the strip you visit the Meze restaurant with the funny symbols in the name. It is one of the best Meze places in Protaras. Also Molti was a great restaurant to stay in.

Beaches

The resort was very clean but the fag ends on the beach let it down for me (as I don't smoke) I found this off putting. The entertainment was good plenty of pubs offering films and meals as many Elvis and Tom Jones impersonaters you want, hypnotists karaoke, pubs resturants such as above to mac d's.Plenty to do for everyone they have a water park but ayia napa has abetter one.

The resort is for families and couples. If you want the wilder pubs take a taxi for £10 to Aiga Napa!! There are however plenty of pubs to keep you busy

The resort is purpose built, for the holiday maker and family. There are plenty of bars and clubs and we didnt find the prices offensive.
We didn't use the beach but there appeared to be plenty of watersoprts, shop around for prices.
We found the resort very conveinient. sometimes too convienient as it doesnt encourage you to explore the island as you have everything you need at the resort.

The resort is lovely, its clean and friendly. The beaches are beautiful. There are plenty of restraunts to choose from, i would reccomend romeos tavern with plate smashing dancing etc. Rockafellas bar is good and the staff there are really friendly but avoid island affair the food made us sick. I would return to this resort but stay in a different hotel.

Our Hotel was in a nice location with excellent views and facilities and was close enough to travel to the main resorts of Protaris (5 minutes) or Ayia Napa (15 minutes away), these main resorts are worth a visit and offer friendly and plentiful restaurants and bars,we opted for this treat on two occassions dispite being all-inclusive,there was no hasseling or conjouling by touts for your business.
Avoid the sunshine hours for shopping as there is very little shading in the streets.

We have been going to this resort on and off for the last 10 years and have found a big difference this time...They have made lots of improvements within the resort, one way road, lots of wider block paving pavements, fountains etc. But I feel now that they are overbuilding in this resort. Not as nice as it was 8-9 years ago. I feel we have had our best years there. My only gripe on the resort front is the amount of kareoke bars they have there...Far too many. They should have more varied more traditional bars & restaurants there instead of Tom Jones and Elvis there every night...Too much of the same I feel. Beaches there are still gorgeous but the only thing that spoils them are the cigarette butts everywhere...Why cant people just put them out then stick them in a box to put into the bin on their way off the beach...Or have the beaches dragged at the night time to get rid of these things...It's such a shame because the beaches would be 5* if it wasn't for this problem. I may visit this resort again but not for a while. It would only be for a week and on a last minute deal for a quick break...

We found Protaras to be very English, from menus in restaurants to Pizza Hut and McDonalds. Shops had much the same type of goods in them all although souvenirs were quite nice. There seemed to be a lot of scooters driving the wrong way along the one way street and a few even on pavements. There are trees planted along edge of the pavement and where some of these have been pulled up or whatever there are dangerous holes in the ground. We really had to watch our step when out after dark. Fig Tree Bay was lovely and not too crowded for August we thought. Plenty of places to get some food and a drink while there and the sunbeds and parasols were very reasonable at just £1.25 each per day. The sea was crystal clear with only a few tiny fish swimming around. Entertainment in the resort was mostly karaoke type, some bars had singers or comedians on too. Lots of sports on the tvs in bars, all the big matches from home and omnibus of Corrie and Eastenders on Sundays.

Protaras is great for families with little children (visit the small Protaras waterpark and Town mini funfair) but will still appeal to all. The bars and restaurants are competitive and serve great food (with exception to a couple dumps with obvious plumbing problems, if it has "boat" in it's name then hold your breath as you walk past).
Some bars provide some cheesy but great entertainment (I've never seen so many Elvis's) others provide in contrast Greek dancing, solo singers etc, you can always find a bar that caters for your requirements.
There is limited beach space and areas in Protaras but you can normally find a place if you don't go too late in the day.
I always said that we wouldn't go to the same place twice, however this was our 2nd visit and will probably go again next year, we love Protaras!!!!
There does seem to be a property boom going on with villa's popping up everywhere since we visited 3 years ago.
Top Tip, if you like to explore other areas nearby (Agia Napa, Paralimni etc) use the bus service, 55 cents each to go just about anywhere within 20 miles of Protaras, buses run every 20 to 30 mins. They also do cheap day trips to Nicosia, Paphos etc...
